we should be pretty nasty at LB, and a Rasco/ Hunter combo at DE could surprise ppl.

This. Hunter is gonna be a bad mofo, Rasco is small but tenacious. LB's are stacked. Don't count out Louis and Muncie. LL is gonna be good and Muncie has had a lot of problems keeping up his weight/strength due to a bad stomach ailment he's had trouble shaking. Add in the incoming classes, throw in a lot of the Chief, and the D is gonna roll for at least a few more years. And of course this is DBU.

Minor stepback on DL. But I think the run stopping on the front will be better with slightly less pass rush.

Lbs will be better. Minter will be a big loss but look for Debo, kwon, Ronnie or Lamar to have blow up. We will finally have depth at lb like we traditionally do with DL and DB. Lb will be a strong point in the upcoming years.

DBs. We get better on our secondary in general. We lose Reid but this will be the first time in 3 years that we don't lose a top 5 CB nationally (Peterson and mo were #1 but I'm giving some leeway to not sound homer). Lots of young guys there who will gain experience. Got some raw talent in the secondary that just needs to get into the system and grow physically/gain experience.

All in all out defense will be better next year. Especially if tyrann comes back.
Chavis with some lbs will be nasty. Anyone who knows about his tenure at tenn will tell you that LBs are his specialty. I think Chavis somewhat "demanded" (or asked) miles to get him some quality LBS. he got them and look the frick out when it's their time.

I think the D line will not just miss Sam and Mingo, but also Lavar Edwards. The guy has been the Ron Brooks of the D line. He is a solid play maker that gets over shadowed by the super stars around him.
How many sacks does he already have?

Maybe next year will be the coming of the "Big Cat" drill star, Jordan Allen.

Or maybe he'll just continue to ride the bench behind all of the studs LSU gets on the DL.

I talked to Sam at a party last year and he really really wants to get his degree and says its a priority for him and his family. If he doesnt get his degree this year I think he will stay
If Sam doesn't leave, then LSU hasn't taught him very much. He's already been hurt once, I think he has sense enough to know he's got to go. Les will do the right thing and tell him to go.

I'll preface with this, I think Sam is gone.

But everyone who has ever decided to stay (knowing they'll be a high draft pick) is aware of what's on the line. Some people just have it in them. As I said, I think Sam is gone, but if anyone of his potential draft status decided to stay, I think it's him. He loves LSU and the attention/love he gets from the fans.

Funny how people on here think they have the slightest clue as to what would be better for the kid (or any player for that matter). You really have no clue at all. Matt Barkley came back, Landry Jones came back. More and more people are starting to come back to school even though could get drafted highly. Maybe he loves Baton Rouge and LSU and the best thing for him is to stay here. How the hell do you know other wise to say that "Les will do the right thing and tell him to go"?

you still got Maclin and Allen and the incoming guys.

btw, has anyone mentioned that Hunter isn't 18 yet? 1 yr in the offseason Moffitt program and that kid may just be a beast.

He truly has been outstanding. He has outperformed the superstars at times. At the very least, there is no real drop-off when he's on the field.

Our LBs next year will be the best group since Trev and Bradie.

They will be a force. Minter, Tahj, Aexander, Jones.

Just repeating what he said. I dont think he likes football all that much. He likes the family and community associated with playing for LSU more than the actual game.

interesting, that actually doesn't suprise me about him. He seems very emotionally invested in LSU and it's fans. He's not your average football player that's for sure. I'm not expecting him to come back, but it would be awesome for LSU if he did.

Looking at the roster, there are quite a few freshmen, especially at DB - I'm really hoping that one of them really steps up and becomes an impact player.

I share the hopes of many on this board for TM7....but if he does come back, I think we should temper our expectations, given that he will not have played in an actual GAME for such a long time. It will be asking alot for him to return to his former level of play.

Collins has played well this year. Worst case, we have him and Mills starting at corner. That's not a bad duo. Just need some depth. Simon or TM would be great.

I agree somewhat, however, you dont really lose what TM7 has. That football IQ, aggressivness, and muscle memory aint going away in 1 year. If he stays in shape he's gonna be great if he can make it back.

DL: Freak, Ego, Logan, Rasco, Hunter/Allen?? Not sure who the other DE will be, but I do think Logan comes back next year. His stock has dropped a bit, but still would be a mid 2nd rounder IMO.

LBs: Kwon, Feist, Debo... I think Minter is gone. Hes only 6'0 and his stock isnt going to get any higher than it is right now.

DBs:TM7, Mills, Simon, Loston, Martin... Only reason Reid would come back is get the degree and play with TM7. He will be a 2x all American after this season and a top 2 S come draft time. Pretty sure Simon stays. He hasnt been bad at all this year, but he def isnt Mo back there. Everyone in the nation was hyping Simon up to be the next great DB from LSU, and he still can be, but he still has a little ways to go. Mills has been just as good IMO, and Collins looks very good when he gets in the game. TM7 comes back and plays Nickle and return specialists and tears it up.

A huge factor in why players would want to come back is the future of TM7, IMO. If hes allowed to come back, I think Reid comes back, and maybe some others.
