You cannot be serious.

1)Yes.

2) He was comparing THAT to calling 3rd and long plays.

Get over your funk. LSU had an AWESOME season. Allow yourself to enjoy it and the head coach.

Right...he's just saying it's easier to make a call on first down than it is to make a call on 3rd and long.

Nothing too crazy here.

yeah smartass, i get your point about stating that calling 1st down plays are easier than 3rd down plays, but the point Im getting at is that CLM, when asked the question about 1st down play calling, avoided the question like he most of the time always does.

Problem is that our 1st downs haven't looked any different than 3rd downs for most of the year. We keep it on the ground.

I could care less what he meant when he said that....the bigger question is what he meant when he said "I am going to come high".

That doesn't mean it isn't easier to make those calls on 1st down. Which was Miles whole point. You have a lot more options on 1st down

Absolutely. Our loss in the championship game doesn't negate the fantastic season we had—at least for me. 13-0, 9-0 in the SEC, SEC Champions (which is a HELLUVA great consolation prize in my opinion), wins over Bama, Florida, Georgia, Arky, Auburn, Oregon and WVU. I'm not hanging my head over the loss—we had a magnificent season overall.

That worked for the most part because we were able to stay ahead of the chains on 1st & 2nd downs. We had a lot of 3rd and shorts. When we had 3rd and long, we were not very good, especially with JJ at QB. Les knows that of course but with our defense he chose to play it safe and let the D get the ball back for us. That works against nearly every college team out there. It worked against every team we played this year except Alabama because their defense is good enough to keep us in bad down/distance situations and their offense is good enough to move the ball on our defense.

Because he is the head coach, you think miles is the only coach that gets the play from upstairs and okays it befote its ran? He was beiing smart with the reporter, well no shite its easier when you have 1st and 10 compared to 3 and 15+. Thays all he was saying.

Why is Les Miles calling plays in the 1st place? He said the word, "I", when referring to play calls at least three times in that press conference. LSU's ineptness on offense will continue as long as Les Miles continues to call plays. Saban doesn't do that.

There, I cannot help you. It's possible he meant "I" figuratively i.e., "it's difficult for any coach to call plays when it's 3rd & long."
