no offense but it seems to be you're being the glass is half empty guy. comparing QB's and offensive systems is tricky. UGA's guy is a 5th yr sr and knows the offense intimately. he had a very good 1 game start but it's a long season. TAMU is definitely a system thing. sumlin recruits to the spread and throws a ton of short passes BUT has failed in the downfield passing game when they play a team like LSU. our system is a pro system and is tougher to break in a QB.
it seems to me that Cam has made a huge difference in QB play. it is called coaching. we have played one game and I noticed a huge difference in AJ. I believe we will see more.
this run it on first and second down has it's advantages but it puts the QB in 3rd and long when it fails. I would like to us open it up a little earlier as i'm sure everyone else does. I think the first game (and the bowl game) was just a "don't make mistakes" approach. us getting behind to wisky may be the best thing to happen to this offense.

LSU offense is continually plague by penalties. Illegal procedures, confusion, unwarranted time outs, and poor execution. The link shows LSU as a leader in penalties in the SEC, with abysmal Florida as the worst. Was there one screen pass in which LSU executed successfully?

bdnc your first 40 teams on that list were not very good as a group and most of them frankly were bad. Thank you for your analysis.
Cam is as good an OC as we could ask for. Plain and simple.
I can remember when LSU and U of Florida were at the top of penalties per game and won NCs

He improved Mett a ton. The jury is still out on what he's done with AJ and Harris.

Ugas qb is a fifth yr sr. He threw for 131 yds and 0 td vs clemson.....

You mean Gurley helps UGA's QB?

And regarding the training wheels comment, Kenny Hill won't be NEARLY as prepared for the league as Mett is and AJ/Harris will be.
So? I don't care how they do in the NFL anywhere as much as I care how they do at LSU.

He's simplified the offense. Not that it was the hardest to learn, just made it more ideal for the players to fully understand.

UGAs Mason threw for 131 yards in 28 attempts.
LSUs Jennings threw for 239 in 21 attempts.
I am perplexed as to why anyone thinks the training wheels are on a QB that ran pro set, read, speed option, and threw it downfield quite often.

My vote would be the reduction of dropped passes...
Play design. Those passes were dropped a lot of times because the Receivers was not or marginally open. I don't know how many times under Studrawa that we had a passing down and only ran two receivers out in the name of Max Protection.
The play design we have now gets guys open.

Overall professionalism. The guy has done it at the top level with success for a decade. He seems to be a steadying force. It remains to be seen but I also think our QB recruiting evaluations have improved.

Stafford didn't look too hot his first year and neither did Joe Cox his only year. Thing about UGA's offense is that it relies on the passing game way more. It's a pro style offense, and is actually more like an NFL offense. Our offense was predicated on the run game before Cam got here, and hopefully Cam and Les will allow Jennings and Harris to play in a more modern NFL offense. Let's say at least 57 run to 43 pass.
TAMU is a system thing. Sumlin has yet to have a full season starter QB throw for less than 3300 yards.
