Apologies if I've missed topics on ticket allocations but what % of the crowd do we expect to be LSU fans given that Bama isn't that far away geographically.

65%

Not much to do with geography.

I know many LSU and neutral fans are selling tickets. I would expect Bama fans to buy them as NO is a reasonable drive for them. As opposed to what it was for OSU fans in 2007.

and from what do you derive that it isn't LSU fans buying said tickets?

Just as easy for LSU fans to buy them too.

If the schools were allotted ~36,000 total tickets, that leaves another 36,000-37,000 tickets for others...sponsors, corporate, politicians, many of them local to New Orleans. Yes, some will sell but many will be in the game and will be partial to purple and gold.

I don't mind LSU fans selling tickets

Its not even that bad if some want to make a profit on it.

Selling tickets to Alabama fans is unforgivable and I really wish there were a way to not sell these so called fans tickets to LSU events ever again. With fans like that who needs enemies.

Considering how expensive the tickets are, I'd say there would be a large percentage of neutral fans who just have a little interest in one or both teams. I don't think crowd noise and home field will be as much of a factor as media likes to portray it. How often does LSU play in the Superdome? I say about half in attendance follow LSU as their #1 team.

Didn't say they weren't. Bama fans are as likely to buy them.

I was running the numbers this morning and the current simulations are at 63.46% LSU, 29.78% BAMA, and 6.76% Other.

LA's 31% to AL's 25% isn't that sizable of an advantage. Crowd noise will be nearly equal with either offense on the field.

there were tons of Ohio State fans who came to New Orleans even though they couldn't get tickets to the game, the Times-Pic stated they believe they numbered over a 1,000

It's possible that LSU fans are buying these, but there are more tickets in the LSU sections for sale on Stubhub and Ebay than there are tickets in the Bama sections.

I think it will be about 60/40 LSU, but I won't be surprised if it's closer to 50/50 because Bama travels so well.

well, the SEC championship was a similar situation with georgia basically being the "home" team, and I can tell you that the crowd there was decidedly a georgia one...I would guess 65/35 or 70/30 for georgia....not really suprising because 30% of the tickets in that type of game go to politicians, business men and other such folks who are local....

that said, if LSU cannot pull off the same ratio, we should be ashamed of ourselves....
