I watched Louisuana Tech smash them in person last year. It would take an all time collapse to lose that game.

And you would be wrong on just about all of those. We should not be looking past any of these teams

Wife is alumni of WKU and her father played football for them in the 70s.

First year we started dating was when we played WKU while JJ was still our QB.

She asked before the game what would happen if WKU beat us and I said I'd marry her the next day. It was tied at halftime.

We, of course, went on to dismantle them but I was sweating for awhile there.

They got beat 59-10 by Louisiana Tech. A little perspective is good sometimes.

Nope. We roll them and it's not even close. Accomplishments but not against LSU. Reminds me of the Appalachian State game the year after they beat Michigan. Had a good QB but he was garbage against LSU.

Unless Boyd Crowder and Cousin Johnny are in the backfield, I'm not worried.

Unless they've completely overhauled their defense, they won't have the ball enough to seriously threaten us. Looking at last year, outside of one game against UTSA(whoever that is), they gave up at least 27 points to everybody else. They won a game where they gave up 66 points and they let Central Michigan score 35 points in 12 minutes to almost lose their bowl game.

Kid is a very good QB, but unless we turn the ball over or are completely uninspired and can't get the running game going, it won't matter.

I don't see why anyone is discounting the OP.

LSU has a long history under Miles of playing unexpectedly tight games with non-BCS opponents.

WKU is picked to win CUSA. They have an experienced QB and can score points. Though everyone is optimistic, how can anyone say that we know exactly what to expect from LSU's defense when they haven't played a single snap under Steele?

Also, util we see something on the field, I can't EXPECT LSU's offense to be anything more than it's usual mediocre self

Finally, the WKU game follows an SEC game (Florida) and is ahead of a bye week before LSU enters the toughest stretch of the season (@ Bama, Ark., @ OM, A&M). It certainly is not unreasonable to think that LSU could be looking past WKU at that point. Everybody else outside of the program certainly will.

FTR, I don't think LSU loses the game. But I also don't see them being the pushover that those who only view the world the P&G glasses think they will be.

in today's environment any game is a potential trap game.

uf lost to ga state, bama to ulm, lsu to Miami of ohio, etc. the "little guy" is fired up while the "big guy" takes a nap. the turtle and the hare thing.

Why?

It's universally known that teams can overlook an opponent. Usually it's a lesser opponent that's OOC and teams just don't get fired up and play with lower intensity and lack of focus.

When that happens, the game is usually closer than expected (at least in the first half). Fortunatley, the better team eventually wakes up and "flips the switch" at some point and they pull away, but not always.

But trap games are very real. Best to acknowledge that.

By the way, the Arkansas game last year was a classic trap game. I called that one when I saw the schedule. It was on the road the week after Bama. I knew we'd be emotionally spent and they'd be pumped, and that's exactly what happened.

Didn't LSU have a tough time with a weak OOC opponent that got blown out by a Sun Belt team last season?
