he'll then give JJ the option of being Lee's backup, or redshirting and competing for the starter's role in the spring.
Why would a head coach give the player "an option". JJ is a player and his job is to do whatever the coach decides is best for the TEAM. If Les thinks its best for the team to have him be the backup he will either be on the team as the backup or he won't. Conversely, if Les thinks its best for the team for him to redshirt, then he will either redshirt or decide to not be on our TEAM.
Very simple I would think.

because you can't force a player to redshirt...or can you?

serioulsy.. how many times have you seen people say "I was wrong about Jlee or Jlee has been a pleasent suprise?"
For fricks sake... national columnist are writing pieces on it, not to mention commentators.
You're grasping for straws now and you know it.

I thought you could force a player to redshirt...happens all the time with freshman right?

Its hilarious you say this, especially considering the crow eating that has been at an all time high the past 4 weeks by numerous posters
I've been consistently saying since 2008 that our QB performance would improve as soon as we got rid of Crowton.
I was lumped into Team Jefferson even though I often defended Lee in 2008 and made it a point to include him along with Jefferson when talking about the effect of Crowton's incompetence.
I also have ten years of history which supports my position as well as the present struggles of Danny O'Brien.
For some reason, a large contingent of LSU fans don't want to acknowledge the problem with out offense between 2008-2010. I believe this is due to the fact that most don't really watch football outside of LSU and don't have the ability to watch the game outside of the person holding the ball.

National columnist aren't normally as versed in specific team problems as the fanbase.
They should have asked me what the problem was for the last three years. I could have given them the answer with mounds of evidence.

JJ's not a regular player. he gets to attend the BBQs. he and Les are tight like that.

not sure you can force it per se, but you can "strongly encourage" it.

Uh yeah, it's called not playing him for a year. Take Terrence Magee for example. Unless he sneaks on the field when Les and Frank aren't looking, he's not playing, and thus being redshirted.

Fwiw, I never said shite about Lee. I just don't get the "who cares what happens to JJ, Lee is a better QB" crowd.

I've always wondered this. If a player runs onto the field just to do it, and they get penalized for too many men on the field - does that burn his redshirt?
I'm sure if any player did it they'd get a quick boot off the team by the coach.

you dont say?
He's also been consistently right in his opinion.
The offense dramatically changed in scheme, packages, and playcalling when Crowton stopped calling the plays.
Those are facts.
