We Reeeeaaallllyyy need an 8 or 16 Playoff

LSU, right now, can compete with any team in the country right now, except for Alamaba. With Bama getting into a 4 team playoff whether or not they win the SEC West makes it dang near impossible for us to play for a NC. I know it sounds whinny but its reality. After watching that in person Saturday night, I've finally surrendered to the fact that we ain't beating them as long as Dorf is coaching there.
In an 8-16 team playoff we could definitely get in with 1 loss (8 teams) or with 2 losses (16 team). Then we can hope that someone else knocks them off in an earlier round, that we match up better against in a later round.
This type of desperate thinking is what it has come to...

I’ve said since day 1 that the playoff should be 8 teams and all teams should have 2 bye weeks.
Power 5 winners and 3 at large bids
One 2 more teams would play 1 extra game for a total of 16.
With that said- it doesn’t matter. Bama would just kick the shite out of us in the playoffs too.

I'm typically against this idea, but Rick Neuhiesal (sp) had a convincing argument on Dan Patrick today to make it at least 8. He said if you make it 8 or 16, you can get kids to commit outside of the bamas and clemsons and potentially level the playing field.

Some system would have to be implemented to make schedules fairer to some degree. Make the regular season a little shorter with no cupcakes.

Let's be honest, this is not a national championship level team. Being the 8 seed in an 8 team playoff sounds nice, but it doesn't really change anything.

8-team. Top 1-4 seeds host 1st round games (you get a bene for having a great season), then use the current system for final 4. Matchups would be off the charts, and truly the best two teams would bubble to the top.

Blame the administration for continuing to hire coaches who refuse to modernize the offensive side of the ball. Orgeron is headed down the exact same path as Les. Good defense and absolute shite on offense. It beats most teams and gets shut down against the elite ones.

How is this not a national championship level team? UGA is top 6 and we smoked them.

If anything this reinforces that the playoff doesn’t need to expand. There’s really only a handful of teams that can actually play ball with Bama in any given year.
Now you should have to win your conference to get in unless the rest of the country has an absute collapse, but four is enough.
And I’d rather play in the Sugar Bowl than get our asses handed to us by Bama again.

Eh, I disagree. Clemson's defensive line would give Burrow nightmares. We wouldn't score enough to keep up with their offense.
Michigan's defense would probably hold us under 10 points. That game would be close.
Notre Dame beat us 11 months ago and looks to be much better this year.

I think Haveing 4 spots and 5 major conferences is crazy.
Trying to figure out if a 1 loss PAC 12 champ/ Big 12 champ is dumb.
Make it 8 and use the rules for the BCS games.
p5 champs are AQ. 3 at larges. G5 team if they’re ranked so high.
Bring back the computer and BCS system the committee is too arbitrary.

Old news, dude. I think UGA is a bit overrated this year, honestly. But more to your point: we just got blanked and utterly humiliated by the only real national championship level team.
If that was a preview of the CFP for LSU this year, then no. No we are decidedly not a national championship level team this year.
