Jack Hunt was the GOAT! Greatest receiver in LSU history, with only one attempt -- and one reception -- to his credit

A 4 front D-Line with a Marcus Spears and Marquis Hill on the ends and Kyle Williams and Chad Lavalais as your tackles. Bo Davis.. please return us so some semblance of this!

Williams was considered the weak link on that line

Went on to have a 14 year NFL career with an all-pro season and 6 pro bowls.

The 2011 D had more big playmaking ability with Honey Badger, but the 2003 defense was the best to me.

That D really took off when Williams replaced Bryce Wyatt as the starting DT. Wyatt was a solid college player, but the line became stacked with high end NFL talent once Williams was a starter.

probably one of the greatest lines in SEC history baw.

Yup.

And they could shift guys around and bring in Kirston Pittman 1.0 and Melvin Oliver to create even more havoc. What a time.

Corey Webster, Travis Daniel, and Randall** (my bad) Gay isn't a bad set of CBs either

Ronnie Prude started some games at CB too and I think had a brief NFL stint.

Fun fact - Laron started a game at CB early in the year while they figured out the DBs. Travis Daniels played safety early on.

That D was amazing. If memory serves I can remember LSU dominating Arkansas late and Travis Daniels gave up a decent completion to them right in front of Saban. The man went ballistic in typical Saban fashion.

Side note think of the freshmen on that D that played a key role in the 07 natty.

It was a different time in college football

That scoring D was something. It was common to win games that year holding the opposing O to single digit scores.

The defensive line is the key. I went to the games and watched via my binoculars as they got pushed around pretty bad. It hurts the linebackers and the defensive backs as they have no shot to stop anything.

While TM7 and the 2011 defense certainly had big play ability, the 2003 defense scored like 8 TDs that season as well

2003 had 7 (5 interceptions, 2 fumbles) and 2011 had 6 (3 interceptions, 3 fumbles).

2003 LSU Per game stats & Defensive stats:

2011 LSU per-game stats

Those were two magnificent defenses. Interceptions in 2003 and forced fumble in 2011

With all due respect to Glenn Dorsey, Chads first step was literal light speed.

Guy was fury in a box.

Best defense I’ve seen at LSU, especially Chad Lavalais.

Did you know he worked as a prison guard? Remember that was the thing they’d always say when talking about him.

Florida Tight Ends running free in between our LB’s and Safeties all day. If I remember Hunt was hurt and didn’t play that game?

I remember my Dad saying that Saban and Muschamp both might stroke out on the sidelines that day.

It was their RB that got us a couple times, for at least 1 TD. And yeah Hunt was out.

Leak earned my respect that day. We sacked him like 5 times and hit him a few more, but he kept getting up and throwing good passes.

Also I know Oklahoma was in the No Defense Conference but look at the numbers their offense put up that season/ then Natty numbers w/Heisman winning QB. It’s astonishing how good that DL/DEs were.
