I don't hate or love Miles, but I feel like most of the time we are winning in spite of his coaching. You have to admit that some of his play calling raises questions at least and the clock management issues still leave me scratching my head!

I'm simply a realist who understands that this football team is near the bottom of the SEC West this year.

Pump pump pump it up! I like Miles, but I'm done defending him. He needs to let his coaches do what they're paid to do. His stubbornness decisions have cost us several games. 1/9, Clemson, this week. Just to name a few.

Ballcasteer, I can go along with what you are saying and the stats go in Miles favor. However, and again this is just an if and certainly the season will play out , but if we were to finish 0-8 this year in the SEC or 1-7, what say you , if he then follows that up with another losing season next year? Will it happen , I don't know but we both know it could happen . I wont argue with the success Miles has had though ive never been a big Miles lover ever since Bertman hired him. I support the Tigers regardless of the coach and have done so since 1965. But after what I saw this past Saturday night, I truly believe that we may not win another SEC game this year or at most maybe beat ky, But what say you if that does happen? Remember , Chizik was let go just 2 quick years after winning the crystal ball.

We are 0-2 in our last two games against teams from Mississippi. That should NEVER happen at LSU.
We are 0-3 against bama in our last 3 meetings.
LSU is paying for elite football and not getting it.

your arguments are toothless.
since CLM arrived at LSU, 7 of the 10 national championships were won by an SEC school. and 5 of those 10 were from the SEC west (including LSU). this casts your shitty self-loathing comment in a totally different perspective.
LSU was down two possessions until 4:36 in the 4th quarter. that doesn't make the loss easier to swallow, but it wasn't out of hand until then. and if you think that he didn't want to win, then you're delusional.
the win percentage is the only thing that matters. you don't get to change the argument from "you think 2 sec titles in 10 years is acceptable?," which is a results-based assessment, and then say that results-based arguments that favor CLM are wrong.
is there much to be desired? yes. does that mean that the winningest coach in LSU history and the winningest coach in the SEC during his tenure isn't a good coach? no.
you're not making sense.

So you stay in a negative pessimistic state, and losing games reaffirms that negative pessimistic state about what you profess to be your passion-LSU Football.
Now as a hypothetical, what will you experience if LSU does what they always do, and bounce backs with a huge run of victories? Will you just stay quiet until we lose again ? And then start agitating against Les Miles as soon as they lose? Or will you stay on the Angst Train throughout the whole ride? How does it work? Explain it to me, I honestly don't understand...

Depends on who they lose to and how. Getting our asses kicked in our own house by Miss. State isn't going to earn any praise from me. Sorry.

The last 2 years. Look at all that talent that NFL teams are soaking up from LSU. What meaningful trophies does Les have to show for it? Look at the last 10 years and all that NFL talent. Not much to show for it.
Now, that's not to say he's a horrible coach or even just mediocre, but by no means is he an excellent game-day coach...which he is getting paid multiple millions of dollars a year to be.

I don't consider myself a "Miles-basher" at all.
But I don't agree with the premise in the OP that it is only to previous coaches that a current coach is to be compared. I doubt that any of Les's predecessors inherited as healthy of a program as he did. Simply put, Les has had a huge head-start.
Success for coaches is always a matter of what they actually accomplish and what, within reason, they could have accomplished. As an example (just an example), is it unreasonable to think we should have defeated OM last year? If not, then it’s fair to say in this instance that Les underachieved and that gets tallied in the failed column. Every coach will have these; some more than others.
Moreover, the goal of the program is to win championships (I attribute this emphasis to Arnsparger). Pre-Bill, the goal was to beat our rivals (OM, Tulane) and get a good bowl bid. Now, it’s all about winning championships. Les has won 2 SEC titles (played for a 3rd) and 1 NC (played for another) in nine seasons. Good but not great. Great would be Spurrier at UF (6 SEC’s in 10 seasons) and Saban at Bama (3 NC’s in 4 yrs – and I’m in the camp that Bama was given a mulligan and a schedule lite but oh well).
Since ’08, Les has adopted an approach that will win 80% of our games. Why ’08? Because in my thinking (as well as Hanagriff and Gordy), he underwent a paradigm shift after ’08 which has held true to this day. If Tiger fans think that’s the ceiling then all is well. IMO, an 80% won’t get us to many championships.
If there’s somebody available that can win more championships (legitimately) than Les, I have zero hesitation in replacing him – it’s all about championships.

It's been the best 10 year span in LSU history. And you thought it sucked. Have you considered pottery or origami? You know, you can control that, less variables....

You're a fricking idiot if you don't think he quit during that game. He gave up and he will never be able to salvage that pussy move.
