funny believe Playboy was the actual list maker that excluded LSU from their list for being "professionals"

[quote] Playboy has published a list of party schools in 1987, 2002, 2006, and every year since 2009. The 1987 list included forty schools, with sixteen honorable mentions; California State University. In 2002, the list featured twenty-five schools and ten honorable mentions and was topped by Arizona State University. The University of Wisconsin–Madison placed first among ten schools in 2006,

It is widely believed that Playboy released additional lists of party schools in the past, but this claim has been debunked by Snopes.com. Playboy did describe the University of Wisconsin as "the party school" in a September 1968 issue.

Looks like we were both wrong but don't see any mention of LSU.

ABC ranked LSU as #1 in 2006. LINK

These lists are completely arbitrary and based on nothing more than vague qualitative findings.

What is party school based on? How would anyone know? Alcohol sales? On campus alcohol? Does someone watch every enrollee drink every drink and measure it?

How exactly are you quantifying that statement?

Because the drinking age was 18 in Louisiana back then. I would say that's pretty easy to quantify.

Wasn't the movie "Animal House" loosely based on a fraternity at LSU?

No.

quote:

The stories were based on Ramis's experience in the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity at Washington University in St. Louis, as well as Miller's experience in the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity at Dartmouth College, and producer Ivan Reitman's experiences at Delta Upsilon at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.

UW is mentioned later.

quote:

When the film was released, Landis, Widdoes and Allen went on a national promotional tour.[18] Universal Pictures spent about $4.5 million promoting the film at selected college campuses and helped students organize their own toga parties.[31][32] One such party at the University of Maryland attracted some 2,000 people, while students at the University of Wisconsin–Madison tried for a crowd of 10,000 people and a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.[32] Thanks to the film, toga parties became one of the favorite college campus happenings during 1978 and 1979.[10]

The fascination with drinking to excess and boasting about it is odd. I do drink, and I love the celebratory atmosphere around LSU football, but I still find this odd.

you win man. LSU was a regular top performer on that list back in the 60's and 70's and has subsequently dropped way back. I guess students are studying more than they did back in my day.

my only experience with you Wisconsonites is that y'all are some partying sums of bitches.

The whole point of this thread was really to wish you all safe travels. Enjoy your time in a very special place. Not just Lambeau, but all of the great things WI has to offer. Have fun, be safe. On Wisconsin!!!

A lot of me hates the neutral site idea. I'm upset that it wasn't BR-Madison...
