This thread is another reason I'm thankful that Rantards aren't coaching the team.

JD said he would figure it out after the Heisman. They won't practice for the bowl game until after finals (next week)

It's a tricky current for HCs to navigate. If standing QBs know the HC will bump them in favor of a more experienced transfer, why stick around?

Nevertheless, we're going to have to bring someone in. If Nuss can't beat them out, that's on him. Ideally, we bring in a KJ Jefferson or similar and Nuss wins the job and they're stuck here as backup. This happened at Ole Miss with Jaxon Dart and Spencer Sanders. Or, you find someone with 3 years of eligibility remaining who is willing to risk sitting behind Nuss for a year or two. There are QBs at crappier schools that might take that gamble to play at a big-time program - they could always grad transfer again in a year or two if they don't see a path to the field.

OR regardless of how he plays get a quality transfer QB (Dante Moore) and have them COMPETE to be QB 1.

Dante Moore wasn’t very good this year. 53% comp 11 TD’s and 9 int’s. Had -83 yards rushing. I watched a few UCLA games this year. Dude looked like Brandon Harris.

Only if JD5 decides to not participate. And I think that is unlikely.

Strongly disagree. He's being projected in the top 10 of the draft now. He's got nothing to win and everything to lose playing in the crap-arse Reliaquest bowl for nothing. One injury (see Matt Corral) or a stinker performance could cost him millions.

At the start if this season Nussmeier was the next Burrow. What the hell happened that opinions seem to have so drastically changed?

Coach Brian Kelly is going to put the redshirt sophmore to the ultimate test. He has to chose the Holy Grail chalice. He only has one chance to choose correctly out of 47 chalices lined up. If he fails, his life is obviously not worth living and will die on the spot. If he successfully chooses the correct Holy Grail chalice, drinks from the cup and survives, we will allow him to start as LSU's starting QB heading into 2024 until his first incompletion then we will make him choose again. It would be only fair right cause burrrrrr competition....

JD5 isn't the only transfer QB. Look at the Heisman last year and the heisman race this year. Caleb Williams, Penix, Nix JD5 all transfers. Burrow transfer.

The coaches already know what they need to see from him.

I am not sure why Nuss needs to prove himself. He has done it over the last 2 years. He was outstanding agains Georgia in the SEC championship game and he was good in the bowl game. He has been playing behind a QB that will win the Heisman. He would have likely been the starter for just about every other SEC team, outside of Georgia.

And no. At this point, nobody knows whether Collins should be playing QB for a D1 program

The coaches should know. They knew Daniels was ready, after the
22 season.
Smart and Saban recognized their young guys were ready.

We will know soon, if they immediately sign a starting QB from another team.

nothing will be determined in the bowl game. if kelly seeks to try to upgrade or add to the QB room that is his choice.

whomever is here will have a spring and fall to win the job.

By this metic we may have sat Daniels after FSU.

The coaches know what’s happening in practice. And there is not a portal QB better than Nuss at this point in the portal.

Bad take.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Nuss though

Nuss has been enough with LSU for last couple of years to be familiar with the offense. Give me all the bowl practices. Make him play against a stout ND defense. If he shows some promise, well and good. If not, get a transfer. cant go into the season with an unproven QB room. What say Rant?

I want JD to play in the bowl game. I don't think he should. Seeing what Nuss can do against a ranked opponent will say a lot about transfers.

slips and breaks his arm, you're comfortable rolling with Rickie Collins for the rest of the season?
that is happening if a transfer is brought in. You think Nuss sticks.

But we have loons talking like Moore is a viable QB.

Collins would have played at UCLA in some fashion this year in all probability
