Les should reflect on what almost happened. If he doesn't change his offense, he's doomed. The fans will abandon him.

A "clean" separation would have been the only way for this to happen now. Les was saved by the ineptitude and hubris of the LSU Administration.

They forgot the simple axiom "It's the masses, not the classes, that win battles". The masses spoke loudly and the classes continued to hide in their Tiger Stadium Suites waiting for their next chance to show everyone how smart they are.

Speaking for myself, it's not the fact of letting him go or not that bothers me, but how it's done. What just happened is NOT the way to do it.

Can we do better? Certainly

Can we do worse? Without question

That's never been the real issue with me. It's always over the people behind the scenes pulling the strings. LSU just showed its arse, and it isn't a pretty arse either. What they did and how they treated Les, a man that's given 11 years to this program, irrelevant to what you may or may not think about him, did more harm to the university and attractiveness to a "top tier coaching prospect" than anything Miles could ever do to torpedo the program into mediocrity by himself.

A losing season would be enough, obviously.

Look, this is simple: LSU is an elite program. I don't care how the HC of LSU gets the team to perform at an elite level... as long as the team performs at an elite level.

Enough Tressel ball. Get someone to operate an offense, already.

I do not see how we can be considered an elite program right now.

Two consecutive 3-5 or worse sec records including progressively declining recruiting.
This is akin to saying there's a hurricane coming and it's going to be windy.

Two consecutive 3-5 conference seasons will absolutely guarantee a decline in recruiting. What premium recruits would want to go to UKWest?

To actually have competent people doing a coaching search. Looks like that won't happen.

A scandal with substantial evidence. Or an 8-4, 9-3 season next year.

I would've been fine with it if the reports were true that we had a solid replacement in hand. Because that turned out to be a sham, I was in favor of keeping Miles.

If Miles doesn't truly compete for the conference next year, I will be in favor of cutting him loose.

I am a Miles supporter but I am LSU first before anything. I was fine with letting him go this year. It should have been handled like Georgia did. The way LSU handled the whole Miles situation was bullshite. Like Shaq said, show the man some respect. What Alleva and crew did was disrespectful.

Well they have conceded that Bama is just better so we should just start forfeiting that gAme 10 -15 in row will not matter on that one. Obviously losing to ole miss, miss state, Auburn and Arky don't matter so maybe three years of 3-9 or losing 5 in row to Texas A&M?

To the OP, I would be comfortable letting Miles go whenever his boss and his boss's boss decide it is time for him to go.
For whatever reason, that was not yesterday.

Not my job to do that. I just cheer as long as he is here.

As a caveat, I would appreciate a little more class from all parties involved when it happens.

If LSU was going to fire miles they should have handled it like Georgia did with richt. Instead, they gave Les Miles a stage to appeal to the masses for his job.

I honestly want you to answer the question

I was a huge miles supporter till this year.

I like him

I think we can keep up what we've been doing the last 8 years, but do you really think he can get us over the top?

I guess that's my point. A lot of coaches could win the games that he wins.
