My thinking all along has been to give CLM 'till the end of 2016. This will hopefully allow us to retain the majority of the 2016 recruiting class while giving CLM the opportunity to make the necessary adjustments to the offense and defense that is so desperately needed. If he does not adjust, then I will be more than happy to see us usher in an new head coach and coaching staff. This, I truly believe, would be the best way to save face for both the school and CLM.

Ok...seriously. Why am I getting downvoted for saying we must win the West next year?

ETA: never mind....I know why

I think winning the west is a good place to be.

Because when we get eliminated from SECW contention next year you will start to crawfish.

I do not see how we can be considered an elite program right now.

I'll give you a hint: we almost fired our coach after the equivalent of a 9-win season. Only an elite program would even consider that type of decision.

I've been a lurker here well before 2007.

All the arguments for Miles to stay are just a regurgitation of 2008-09. If we go 7-5 next year, there will still be the same group using the same arguments. Ie: bad coordinators, lack of senior leadership, early draftees, etc, etc .

Miles is a great man and was a great coach. But the game has passed him up and he now coaches scared. His fans feel he's infallible and even if we had back to back losing seasons, these fans would justify keeping Miles as our coach

Nothing he can do will get him fired now. If next year looks the same as this one or is worse, they will just blame it on the "lost recruits" like Franks and say that this debacle was the reason he decommitted. They will always have an excuse for him because he's just such a damn likable guy that they believe he only cares about LSU. Never mind the fact that if any other program wanted him and offered him more money, he would be gone in a heartbeat.

So you think we are on our way up and not down. What gives you confidence that we can even compete with Ala or at this point Ark next year.

Neaux prob! What happens if we pull a 10-2 type of season and finish second in the west. Not good enough? Gonna be some disappointed pumpers cum negas right about then if this thread can be believed!!

I think if that happens he will probably stay even though it was supposed to be our year.

I think you can chisel it in stone: 10-2 and Miles is solid, no matter what. Talk about a political circus if there were even hints of firing him after that kind of season!

9-3 or worse next year, Les must go.

Does anybody think miles is capable of leading the team to 10-2? There's no way.

To have a suitable replacement lined up, ideally with Les' consent so that the transition is smooth.

I think an SEC West title/SEC championship is the expectation for most Miles supporters. And I do mean next season. Please understand that supporting Miles being the coach to start next season is not mutually exclusive from expecting prompt improvement.

I say next year if the offense shows no sign of even betweakment, gtfo.

I didn't think it would be good to let him go yet. Hopefully the twisting in the wind this week was payback for Arky last year and a signal to change the offense.
