It's pronounced Matthew.
I work with his mom, who is an RN at the hospital where I work.
FYI, her & her husband, Tyrone, were the Centennial King & Queen of Zulu (EDIT: in 2009). Video LINK

All in jest, my friend. It's all good. BTW my Dad, who named me, misspelled my name on every piece of written correspondence I ever saw, until the day he died.
pretty sure that means you're the one spelling it wrong..

Ever since then, Shelia's nickname at work has been "Queenie".
Edit: I have no reason why I typed 2004. It was in 2009.

Ala Tide, you've come the closest to the correct pronunciation - matt-tyou, even though his family probably uses mah-thew. Thanks!

technically it should be pronounced matt-tyou, but i'm pretty sure he just goes by matthew
I hear what you're saying, but I always thought it was funny how people from south La had throw some coon arse on anybody's last name, whether it was french or not. I now a girl that argued with another chick one night that she, and her family were mispronouncing their last name.
