There are some teams kicking themselves they passed this guy over because of "character issues".

God. It upsets me that you can be suspended in the NFL for 12 months for smoking pot. And then suspended again if you're caught drinking alcohol. Basically Josh Gordon's situation

He's been nothing but professional since being drafted. It also doesn't hurt that he was voted as a top 20 overall player in the league going into the year.

and 1st team all pro last year. had his injury not happened he very well may have won defensive MVP last season

Remember that people said he wouldn't get that much guaranteed due to his 2 ACL injuries. It has been said that the owner loves the guy and wanted to take care of him. I know that business comes first but I think the owner said screw it I am taking the risk for him.

I love Mathieu - greatest football instincts I've ever witnessed - but isn't $40 million a lot of guaranteed money for a guy with his injury history? Didn't he have surgery on both knees in the past few years, or was it the same knee? Just how "guaranteed" is guaranteed money?

both knees, which i actually would prefer over tearing the same knee twice. and apparently his recovery time this go around has been even better than the first time.

Sports columnist in Arizona below

@PaolaBoivin: Yes still questions about Mathieu's knees but Cards felt risk worth it. Play on field, presence in locker room, role in community, marketing

First PP7 and now "The Honey Badger". This should also help LSU in the recruiting of DBs.Former LSU defensive backs getting paid well in the NFL, even Mo Claiborne.

Tiger Rant: Too small. Can't cover. Norwood torched him. Not fast enough.

But, Honey badger don't care.

Back story is, he is an All Pro safety in his 3rd year. Best 2 at his position in the league. Good for him. Guy is just a playmaker, and his worst transgression so far is that he smoked too much for for a while. In the grand scheme of things, if that's it for him, he is a huge success.

I love how the players who were suspended for the 2011 Auburn game has turned themselves around for the better. Mathieu, Spencer Ware, and Tharold Simon are representing LSU well in the league.

Tyrann deserves every penny of his new contract. He's the heart of the whole Cardinals team and if you don't think so, just look at what happened after he went out with injury.

Besides Tyrann and Patrick being extremely talented and both having excellent leadership skills, they share an agent who cares about them and gets the job done. She is all about family and business.
