you mean they literally gave up?.....I don't think I have ever seen

such a thing happen..

We aren't even the first Tigers to make them quit in this year. Memphis did the same thing this weekend(16-0). Granted Tulane won the series

Man this is so funny. Could you imagine the melt down if lsu agreed to a 10 run rule and quit before 9 innings??? Holy f the meltdown that would ensue!!! Led by me!!

Yeah man, seriously. $37 dollars to watch a crappy team quit after 8. Tulane should rethink their ticket situation. They aren't what they used to be. THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE.

Tulane's program has really fallen behind since Maineiri took over.

If by "Maineiri" you mean "Katrina", then yes, I agree with you. It is pretty sad to see what the affects have been on Tulane and UNO baseball.

I'm no Tulane fan, but this is absurd.

Going into the 2007 season, Baseball America ranked NCAA programs since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1996. The criteria was:

quote:

Teams were ranked on winning percentage, postseason success, number of players in the major leagues and All-Americans. We factor a school's winning tradition and quality of players in arriving at a final score

Tulane and LSU were 2 of the 16 schools that received an "A" rating. Tulane was also the "most improved" school in the ranking, having risen 66 spots since the last Baseball America ranking in 1997 (#82 to #16). LSU, by comparison had fallen from #1 to #6 and had just fired Smoke Laval after missing the regionals for the first time in 18 years.

The season before Katrina, Tulane was the #1 national seed, 5th place in Omaha, and a 56-12 season. Katrina hits right before school starts in 2006, but they still went 43-21 in 2006, bowing out in the regional finals.

In 2007, the first full season and recruiting class after Katrina, they went 34-26 missing the tournament all together. In 2008 they went 39-22-1, bowing out in the regional finals. They went 34-25 in 2009, 32-24 in 2010, 31-26 in 2011, and 38-20 in 2012.

In summary, the 6 seasons leading up to and including Katrina, Tulane has a .711 winning percentage, 2 CWS appearances, 3 Super Regional appearances, 6 regional appearances, and 2 conference championships. In the 6 seasons after Katrina, they had a .591 winning percentage, 1 regional appearance, and never finished better than 3rd in their conference.

Paul Maineiri has little, if anything, to do with Tulane's fall from grace.

Now, Tulane football is and forever will be a disaster.

You know... My brother used to quit when getting beat at Risk. But that was when I had all the cards and a massive army and there was no mathematical way he could win.

Tulane still had an inning to play and score runs and a possibility of winning but they quit like little babies.

Did they take the baseball with them when they stomped off?

The weenies have had so many poor teams, it's hard to remember which coach it was, but a good friend was the head linesman for a game in TS one yr. He said they were meeting pre game in the back of the endzone by the visiting team's locker room & he noticed the weenie HC heading their way down the sidelines. As the HC got close to them, he waved his hands in a circle & told the refs to "keep the ball in play", meaning, he wanted the clock to keep running as much as possible. Basically conceding the game before it even started. Seems they have a history of quitting.
