Clarett wasnt even the best RB in the Big 10 much less the nation, much less the top player in the entire nation. Larry Johnson was awesome that year and McGaghee>>>Clarett

nah I know, was just making a general statement. I despise the Heisman process

I think hes kind of the trendy pick, as far as hopping on the bandwagon.
He keeps embarrassing people and taking strips to the house though...who knows

Im not down on sheppard for dropping passes he isnt far into his wr career. Punts r a different thing then running a route then catching seems almost like the opposite. ;)

Clarett is the reason they won the title. He, alone, won them that championship. If it's going to be an award for the best player on the best team, which is what it basically is, he should have taken it.

Has anyone posted a comparison of stats through 5 games between TM7 and Woodson?

Charles Woodson grew up close to where I live. Stud. I think the only defensive Heisman winner in over 50 years.

They helped too. But it's an offensive award for the most part. And yes, Willis was an absolute beast that season.

Charles Woodson

Woodson was a great cover corner at Michigan. While Mathieu is a ballhawk, his cover skills don't compare to Woodson's. Woodson also played some offense, and played it well. And he was a better punt returner than Mathieu is as well.

Having said that, Peyton Manning got screwed by the Heisman Committee.

Watching Mathieu there's no defensive player in the country like him.

Mathieu already has 2 TDs. How many TDs dud Woodson score in his Heisman year?

The TD stat will be flawed bc Woodson had probably 4 offensive TDS and also punt returd TD.

Woodson was not a "beast" punt returner. Only scored one TD his Heisman year.

Does LSU's AD actively promote candidates for post season awards? Some schools go all out with media kits, etc.

Woodson's Heisman was 30% anti-Peyton, 30% media hype, and 40% Woodson performance.

It was the perfect storm, media desire to finally have a defensive guy plus a marquee player from a big time program in Michigan, etc.

Mannings performance vs Florida hurt him and was all the excuse needed.
