They're also representing the school, fans and their fellow players, and I don't think they (TM7 and others) take that into account. It's a very selfish and self-centered behavior and a crappy example of how to gracefully deal with success and overcoming obstacles. It would be interesting to know just how many fans appreciate that sort of behavior. Surprised that Miles tolerates it.

THAT is an absolute untruth.... this is not at all or in any way about RACE....

It's about pride and humility... race is not a factor.

If you want examples of black players that do it right.....

See Mark Ingram while at Alabama, Percey Harvin while at Florida, Darren Sprowles now with the Saints, Barry Sanders while with the Lions, Charles Scott at LSU, Steven Ridley last season.

Need I go on... this is NOT a race issue man... not at all .... it's about respecting the uniform you are wearing and not embarrassing yourself or your school.

"swagga" is not what we're talking about here ---- swagger can take the form of CONFIDENCE.... walking onto the field and KNOWING you are better than the other team --- and simply going out and playing hard for 60 minutes and letting the scoreboard tell the story.

As an "old school" guy, I, too, favor the "let your play do the talking" attitude. However, until this game, I did not appreciate the players as being trash talkers or over the top with "mugging" for the cameras. So, during the remaining games, we will see if it was just WVa.

I don't think we should start the "fight", but we damn well better finish it! So, for WVa fans, if you dish it, you better be able to take it and not whine afterwards.

I'd prefer to see some humility on the field --- beat the other team with talent and superior play.... save the BS - it's not a good reflection on the Team or the University and it's getting a bit out of hand from my perspective.

What if TM7 needs the emotion from the trash talk to play well? Do you still not want him to do it? If he needs it to get up I say go for it...

what I saw was our DB's being the agressors and taking it beyond the limit of tollerance.

So Stedman Bailey punching the frick out of Mo Claiborne for all of about 6 seconds, which is a penalty, was not being the aggressor?

Regardless of who he compared them to, I think we should stay away from the race angle. Everybody so quick to call racism on here.

As for the OP, this thread has been rehashed umpteen million times. And while I think its a little much at times, look who was talking shite in their "tweets" and "statuses"
Our players haven't said anything negative in the media this year, and you have no idea what TM is even saying. What if its "yeah bra!! Its going yo be a long night!!! Woo!!"
That's not that bad is it? I just think you need to enjoy the confidence of this team. And BTW, if I deflected a pass and returned it to the 1 yard line, in a hostile environment, on prime time TV, and a cameraman shoved a camera in my face, I'd stare it down like I was the shite too.

I don't like it either, but when the guys on TV making millions do it what do you think the kids are going to do.....imitate their idols. The showboating at all levels of football is disgusting but don't expect anything to be done. Sportsmanship is pretty much a thing of the past.

There's been trash talking in sports since the beginning of sports. It will never go away. I did it, the people before me do it, the people after me did it, and the people after TM7 will do it.

You aren't suiting up to sing choir. You're suiting up to kick arse.

Short memories a lot of people have. I have watched old tapes of the 70's football game and the hits and talking then were worse than it is now. Spearing, helmet to helmet, clothslines, etc were very common.

TM plays with a huge chip on his shoulder. It's part of his personality. I'm believe Les is working with him on this. It would be a shame if his trash talking circumvents his play on the field. Obviously his play on the field is much more important than any trash talking he does.

He's a high AMP guy -- but dressing down the opposing receivers verbally during pre-game warm ups and the folded arms in the camera after a GREAT play... just over the top... and unncessary.

So, no -- I guess I don't want TM to be an obvious arse that the national announcers are calling out for his cockiness on TV --- they obviouly recognize his great talent --- just don't care for all the "extra curricular" activity.

All things in moderation... "a little trash talk" as one posted stated -- definately ok --- but constant, every play verbal abuse --- can and WILL hurt the team ---- it will happen when a ref hears enough, drops a flag to "teach this guy a lesson" or makes a "non call" or pass interference call that's questionable because he's sick of hearing a mouth full of crap out of a guy every play of the game.

This is akin to the old "Helmet manouver" at "the U" ---- it's not just kids having some fun... it's taking away from the game and putting the spotlight on yourself --- "look at me, I'm the greatest" --- well you are NOT bigger than the game.
As for my examples to the person that commented... yes they are Offensive players --- but they are the best examples.

Brady James was a pretty darm good Linebacker -- I don't recall him making an arse off himself after a big stop.
