Is that true? Reese makes way more than that now.

The main thing about the WNBA and WBB is that more eyes are actually on college ball these days and that's big for someone like her that likes to take in the limelight.

I think she overestimates the nil opportunity for wnba. There are WAY more college women basketball fans than wnba fans. That nil will dry up quickly and people will forget her

She can also get some very nice contracts in Turkey, Poland, etc. The top players make 5-8x their WNBA salaries

The Griner fallout and Russia becoming a sports pariah clearly hurts the opportunities of female basketball pros though.

I think so too. I think this game against Iowa will be one of, if not the, highest rated games for women ever, pro or college. NIL is what it is because of the eyeballs on college players. Nobody watches the WNBA and I don't think viewers are going to follow players to the WNBA.

Ultimately, this is a brave new world, and we don’t have a lot of data yet, so I could be dead wrong. But with that said, I think she would make more money next year at LSU than she would in the WNBA.

I'm so confused about when men started to pretend to care about women's basketball at any level???

Some of these players just want out of college now.

I wish Reese would return.

I care about LSU athletics especially when they win. It is what it is. I really like Mulkey.

She has more people watching her now than she ever will in the pros.

Can she last in the wnba…
She has no jump shot…will the bigs allow her to score under the goal from her hip

Guess there is rebounding

Yeah, I definitely get that. But do you like her because she's a great wbb coach, or because she's a no nonsense conservative female?

Honest question: Now that NIL is here, players can have an agent representing them, right? It USED to be signing with an agent was "the point of no return", and once you signed you lost amateur status, and eligibility ...

But now, theoretically, a player COULD declare they were turning pro, but later change their minds and come back?

I think it kinda does. How many folks in the WNBA have endorsement deals? I think I’ve seen one WNBA-type on a Subway commercial with Steph Curry, but I’m not even sure who she is.

Women’s sports is in a relatively unique place where marketability, name recognition, and social media following determine the money that will be made. On the men’s side, the 140th best basketball player won’t make significant money compared to the All Stars because he has a big social media presence, has modeled, etc.

The only guy that really fits the bill is David Beckham but he was still an elite player on the best teams.

Meanwhile in women’s gymnastics, I suspect Livvy makes more than any gymnast than Simone Biles and maybe, maybe Suni Lee
