1st off, I was 1 of the few guys that didnt think Tre White would come in and start. I have always said Collins is going to be a big time player and I have all the confidence in him. And I still do. And regardless of Collins, its damn near impossible to start at CB as a freshman for "DBU". So dont come at me saying that garbage, because I never thought White would be a starter this year.

If hes better than every other CB that we have on the team after only being in the program for about 6-7 weeks, then by all means start him. What Im saying is that i really really doubt he will come in and be 1 of our top 4 CBs after only being in the program 6-7 weeks. And hes listed as 163lbs. Ill give him 170lbs. If he can come in at 170lbs and become better than all the other CBs that we have, then hes gonna be better than Patrick Peterson. Peterson is the cream of the crop when it comes to LSU DBs. He was here on time and participated in the summer workouts and in fall camp and was 205lbs. And the CBs that were ahead of him were Jai Eugene and Chris Hawkins. And he only started the last 4 games of the year.

RR is coming in without summer workouts and didnt participate in fall camp. And has some serious talent ahead of him, way more than PP did, with Collins, Mills, Thomas, Raymond, Brazil, and White. And White was considered to be a better CB than RR anyways and he was here on time. Hes ahead of RR.

RR def looks like he could become a great DB for us. But, hes not even here yet, and youre thinking he could become the best CB on the team in only 8 weeks. Not gonna happen.

Your twisting it bud. Your the one that was saying as a coaching perspective, dont waste the year. Which really doesnt change anything because if he is as good as expected it is very unlikely he would stay to start more than two years. The good thing about LSU is we use more than normal nickel packages.
Then your turn it to say if he is good enough by week 8 then play him.
Miles has clearly won games on special teams alone at times, so yes, if he comes in and plays like kelvin sheppard or juice landry on special teams as a frosh, then he needs to get in and make plays. Especially if we are contending.
and for the 170 lbs part, tyrann says hello

Read the post.

I was just reiterating what you said with if hes good enough to play. Then I said I really really DOUBT he will be. Didnt twist anything. He wont be ready to play til about week 8 and nobody knows how good he will be considering has hasnt even been at a practice yet. He comes with a lot of hype, but we really have no idea what kind of player he really is.

RR is not as physical as Juice or Sheppard. Sorry bro hes just not. Hes a cover 1st CB. Juice is 1 of the most physical WRs we have had and Sheppard was a MLB. Come on.

And from a coaches point of view, its pointless to waste a year of eligibility on a player that hasnt even reported to the team yet just to let him play some special teams for 4 weeks. RR on special teams isnt going to change the outcomes of the last few games. And what games did we win because of Juice or Sheppard on special teams?? They made nice physical plays, but we didnt win the game because of what they did on special teams. And, our ST will be just fine without RR.

Yeah we run nickel a lot. Again, we have plenty of talent at the DB spot.

6'3 170lbs is a toothpick out there. And TM was at LSU on time and was at the summer workouts and fall camp. And he is way more physical than RR will ever be.

I get your pumped about RR. So am I. He has the potential to be great. But, we dont know if he will be here this week or next week. Hes about 4 months behind.

Redshirting him is the right move. Not just for the program, but for RR also. He needs to add weight. He needs to get the playbook down. And he needs to acclimated to playing against SEC caliber players. You think the coaches are going to take time out of practice, which is limited, just to cater to RR and help him get up to speed?? Heck no. They dont have enough time at practice to do that.

And this thread is dead... we will see what happens with RR soon. We dont even know when he will be on campus yet.

Clearly you dont understand, all that matters is the W.
These million dollar coaches understand that. When you have 5 million amazing cbs coming in the next few year a year of eligibility doesnt matter. You play your best players.
And seriously dude? Miles made his name on risky plays and special teams, i used two people as an example. and you never know how scrappy these kids are. Im done arguing with you. Im right, you're wrong.

All that matters is the win. How do you get the win? Put the
best players on the field.
No matter if its the first game, or the last.

Re: RR - The problem is during the summer and camp are when you learn the scheme and the calls. Once the season starts the players are basically working on refinements and game-plans for the next opponent. Which means guys who come in during the week of the first game are going to get very little work outside of drills and scout team.

Whenever someone says this in any argument/discussion, it's flat pathetic (similarly pathetic to the point they are attempting to portray).

What are you even aruging about?? RR wont be redshirted?? Im right and your wrong?? WTF are you even talking about??

Bro hes not even on campus yet. But, according to you, hes 1 of our best players. Right right. Does he have the potential to be great down the road?? Yes. Im not denying that. But he hasnt even practiced against SEC players, let alone play against them. Hell he could of came in with the rest of the freshman and everything and still not see any PT. Nobody knows what type of player he is. Yet youre calling him 1 of our best players.

And I agree that all that matters is the Win. And you put the best players on the field to win. RR wont be 1 of the best DBs we have this year. Hes 4 months behind. What do you not get about that? We play our 1st game on saturday, and hes not here. He wont come in and join the team 1 week into the season and become 1 of our top DBs in a few weeks. Just not gonna happen. It takes time to get used to playing against SEC competition as a freshman. His last time on the field in pads was against high school players. His next time on a football field, will be against the best college football has to offer. But, hes gonna come in a week or 2 into the season and become 1 of our best players by week 8... OK.

Right now, I can confidently say Collins, Mills, Thomas, Raymond, White, and Brazil are better than RR.

And thats what im trying to say. There is no reason to waste a year of eligibility on RR, considering his situation

Waste a year? Getting him on the field will make him catch up faster than sitting him on the sidelines and unless you think he'll get jumped anytime the next 3 years, your worrying is nonsensical.

Get him some field time with Furman. Do you not remember 18 freshman and true freshman played against UNC in week one. I think he'll get on the field at Furman and will go from there. outside of the trenches and QB, there is no real reason to redshirt anybody

1.) Pocic training to take over the Center spot.

2.) The speed of Brazil on returns.

3.) If we get a big lead, the Total Awesomeness of the amazing Dual Threat Wonder that is JennSwag! (God help the JennSwag Jock Sniffer Kiddie Corps if he gets in and throws a pick, fumbles or loses yardage on a run)

Jefferson

Definitely this kid. He's the only true freshman listed in the depth chart in the secondary, and after hearing about him blowing up in the DB unit all camp I'm really looking forward to seeing him in the game. Plus this board will go full retard once he gets in the game, so that's a +1.

Also looking for Bower and LaCouture. Jennings and Beckwith are intriguing, but Bower, LaCouture and Jefferson seem to be in a position to make a bigger impact the first few weeks of the season.
