Ha, i'm not sure if you went to college or if you remember college but unless your daddy is on the Board of Supervisors or a TAF top 100, it's a little hard for a college student to shell out 1000 bones. Having said that, i'm only here to defend my fellow students who go screwed this year, and will get screwed for the next 100 years unless something changes. I have tickets, but I want everyone to have a chance.

Back when I was a student (86-90, the tickets were $2 a piece, and I know that a few years before that, all you had to show was ID to get in.

I know this sounds trite, but it seems to me that the student section should be EXPANDED. IN all honesty, it's all about THEM anyway. Geezers like me and all the TAFers are surplus.

TS was definitely not as energetic as it has been in the past. If we have another 8-5 season anytime soon, TAF will look around the stadium and wonder how it can sell the other 40,000 empty seats for the next year

I guess if that happens, we won't have to worrie about student section tickets given that no students will go to the games anymore

There hasn't been a single seat removed from the SS in the last 6 years.

2. they are my tickets and if i choose to take my kids home in the third quarter because they are cold and wet and i don't want them getting sick then i will.

then don't bring your pussy-arse kids to the game when you know it's going to rain in the first place. go to the fricking zoo and read the score in the paper the next morning.

are you implying that without TAF LSU would not have been any good over the past decade? most of our star players were big name recruits that came to LSU just for the facilities, most of which arent considerably better than any other major D1 program?

Could any unsold tickets (in any section) be released to students for purchase at student prices some logistically reasonable period of time prior to kickoff? Is there any feasible way to sell a seat a second time (once fans begin to leave)to students in waiting? This would fill the stadium, give those left out a chance to get in, promote good will between TAF/Ticket Office and students, and generate some revenue, even if not as much as a full price purchase would. I understand the need for revenue must be balanced against other concerns. Still, I'm all for a large, robust student section. You cut the heart out of the program if this is barely controllable source of energy and spirit are compromised. I enjoyed 7 years (undergrad and law) of Tiger Stadium, even under Archer, Hallman, and DiNardo. My husband marched Tiger Band for four years when the team was at its lowest. Neither of us would trade the memories of those experiences. They created in us life-long loyalty to LSU, which our five children are emulating. I would love for them to be LSU Tigers one day; it makes me sad to think they may not have the same experience or that the intensity of the atmosphere is at risk. It is one of the things that sets LSU apart. It's what makes it Death Valley. It's why Tiger Stadium is one of the sports venues you must visit, one of the most intimindating in the world. [link= (bleacherreport.com/articles/3172-no-place-like-home-the-10-toughest-venues-in-the-world/show_full)]LINK[/link] It's also one of the most fun for fans. LINK BTW, my husband took our three oldest (10, 9, and 6) to their first game. They screamed and cheered with painted faces in the rain for the entire four quarters. They came back wet, hoarse, tired, and completely exhilarated.

brian broussard doesn't give a frick if every student gets a ticket or not. the ticket office has more important things to worry about.

Many schools allow free student tickets to ALL students. If someone wants to stand when they aren't in the student section, by all means stand. You paid for your ticket and are entitled to enjoy the game as you'd like.

LSU is one of the only major schools in the country that doesn't have a required athletic fee for all students. This is why they pay for student tickets.

It would be nice if it was like this but they tell the students that all tickets are sold out to the general public so they can't

"I'm a senior economics student at LSU. In a stadium of 90+ thousand people, I would argue that allocating 5,000 more tickets to the students would not have a strong enough effect on LSU's income from ticket sales to seriously hurt our athletic program. The extra 5,000 rabid LSU students screaming their heads off could actually help recruiting as it has to look more attractive to visiting recruits than the old fricks whom only stand for the "Star Spangled Banner" do. Y'all act as if LSU's football money comes solely through ticket sales, neglecting to consider licensing fees and the like.

Explain to me how our program will deteriorate if we lose those 5,000 seats. I assume that you don't know what you are talking about."

Son, it's called a business plan and the TAF's plan is much tighter than you realize.

You're looking at a MINIMUM of $3million lost in revenue.

Awesome man you hit the nail on the head, I sat in the student section on that rainy day and guess what half of those luxurious gold seats were empty from begining to the end. Thats just the Atheletic Department telling students we really dont give a crap if you go here these people pay way more so yea when they span that crowd on tv during games the gold seats are the ones that are not occupied. REDICULOUS!
