Rant, I understand JJ is very fast and athletic, but he is not a qb, I agree he just seems lost at times.... I honestly think it will bite us in the arse, him being in there at times.. JL is the safe bet all the way through, I dont know if JJ's upside is worth the risk... even more so against better competition...(bama game)

JJ has learned 3 plays so far this season:

1. The option, which isn't really an option since he keeps the ball every time.
2. Handoff to the tailback.
3. Tebow jump pass.

Maybe he'll learn a fourth play for Tenn. I'm hoping they teach him the option where he actually options it to the tailback.

Choupique, have you watched maryland play? Its the same shite. Qbs cant complete a pass to save their life, by end of game they got a more mobile qb running the read option, just like we did with Jj.

I watched the first game vs Miami, but I've been at all of the LSU home games so I haven't seen the last few weeks of Maryland. I will admit that much.

Bro, if you cant see the COMPLETE difference in our offense this year, i feel for you.

i see a complete difference. that difference is,

more efficient qb, thus more efficient passing game, thus more efficient offense.

So jj goes 3/4 for 60+ yards and yall are hating on him?

That was better than any of the qbs games the first half of last season. Yall are blind if you dont think both guys have improved. It was obvious starting with the bama game last year.

So you heard about obrien rt? He was the acc freshman of the year. Well he does very well in the first game, and hes benched by week six. Mds q s were 1/15 and it was the 3rd quarter. I stopped watching after that. They did get a late td off a read option from a diff qb.

Not to mention the whopping 7 pts they scored on temple. If we didnt have the athletes we did. Our o would have been even worse.

Two tight end sets and I formation was used sparingly last year. Hell, even when Lee came in last year, he stood in shotgun with a lone back.
We are leaving personel groupings on the field for whole series', and alternating one and to two players on. We are doing things completely different than last year, and if you think that doesnt have anything to do with the departure of a guy who has and is doing the same things at his every coaching stop, you are delusional.

Not to rehash an old topic on here, but I still think the offense looks confused with JJ in the game, especially when he comes in the middle of a drive. I think JJ bears a little of the responsibility for the confusion as well

I thought the same thing, but am/was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt seeing as he's been sitting for the whole front end of the season.

That said, I was pretty pissed when he came in, and things immediately got confused/confusing. We have no idea what went down though. It may have had nothing to do w/him.

No dgnx, that had to be all the players fault. They must have been running bad routes and not blocking. There is no way that Gary Crowton is a bad coordinator- jrich

Crowton out cutes himself. in 07 we had awesome talent and he would pull some cute play intead of continuing to do what was working. His schemes are simply too much for most college players to grasp consistently and it loses any kind of identity.

I've never claimed Crowton to be the best coordinator ever (I actually really liked Jimbo Fisher), but our offense was great in 2007, and we scored a lot of points in 2008 even though we turned the ball over too much. Then in 2009 we got a huge split in the offensive philosophies and I think that helped to jumble everything up. Les Miles wanted a power running game, Crowton wanted a spread passing game. The two combinations were terrible together.

It is true the offense does not look as smooth with JJ in the game, but that probably has to do with the fact that he only has two games under his belt. They are remarkably more cohesive than I thought they would be with two quarterbacks at this time and seem to be improving.

Not surprising

Is he ever involved with the offense when Lee is out there? I always sit him just moping on the bench.

He needs to be next to TC McCartney on the sideline with a clipboard and headset IMO

You are an idiot. When the offense is one the field he is standing right next to Miles and TC. He, like Lee, sit on the bench, look at pictures, and talk on phone when the defense is on the field. You are just talking out of your arse.

In 2010, Danny O'Brien was Maryland's quarterback. He threw for over 2400 yards and 22 TDs. The Terps boasted an impressive 9-4 record. Maryland crushed East Carolina 51-20 in its bowl game.

After such a successful season, hopes were high among Terrapin fans that Danny O'Brien would lead Maryland to even greater success in 2011.

Those dreams were all for naught. In the second quarter of Maryland's game with Georgia Tech last Saturday, Danny O'Brien was benched after throwing his sixth interception with only four TDs on the year.

When you only run about a half a dozen plays a game thier is no way ever should they be confusion before the snap in my opinion we haven't seen but a quarter of the offense so far cause we haven't needed too.

Crowton is gone and we are better off now.....I think we all know that by now. Can we move on and stop dwelling on our negatives in the past?
