I swear, with the exception of the 2013 team, Les and Cam's offensive philosophy was flubbed after 2011's 9-6.

Run the ball, play the field position game, play it safe, hope for a busted run, and hope for some turnovers (Morris Claiborne's int and Eric Reid's int) and beat them with a couple of field goals.

They played to keep the game close.

ETA: Gotta love the philosophy on the 2012 game. 9 minutes or so, it is 4th and 1. Instead of a chip shot fieldgoal, Les runs that abhorrent under-center, wildcat play with Spencer Ware. As expected, it gets stuffed. Later in the game, it's 3rd and 10 with 2 minutes or so left to play. Jarvis Landry, Odell, and Mett are raping the Alabama secondary. Les/Cam decides to play it safe and opts for a toss dive and it gets a yard or two. LSU misses the 48-yard field goal and the rest is history...

This isn't really earth shattering.

Everyone knew the X's and O's of LSU's gameplan. You didn't have to plan to stop it, you just needed the proper jimmy and joes.

Alabama does, and we see how that's worked out for us. Hopefully O, Aranda, and Canada put a stop to that.

No. LSU still needs much better pass blocking and the receivers have to be more consistent not dropping the passes. LSU is not quite as talented as posters here think. We are just not on the same level as Ohio St, FSU, Clemson, bama, etc right now. A few high draft pics do not equate to the depth of quality players those programs have.

But gump posters insist that they didn't have 8 men in the box.

I don't think there's a more frustrating memory about this series than settling for a FG after the fumble recovery in the '14 game.

Wasn't that the series that Bama got one of those timely "penalties" when our guy got a PF called against him when at worst it should have been offsetting penalties?

This was an inability to protect the quarterback in the pass game.

You can scheme around pressure and make it back off without going into a shell.
Also like I said in my other post every oline gets their arse kicked by bama. I was scared for Austin Allen's health watching bama/ark and he still threw for 400 yds.

They are at least as talented except at the QB position. You don't lead the NFL in active players on the roster and not be at least as talented as the aforementioned teams.

Les' offensive approach, his inability to recruit and develop a QB, and general stubbornness is why he has no job.

thanks Les and Genius Cam

Les and Genius Cam were long gone by then. Need to blame someone else. But, I wouldnt read much into what Williams has to say about anything. He just needs to continue to get better at rushing the passer and leave the analysis to others.
Someone shouldve asked him how did Clemson light them up 2 years in a row running the same offense vs talking about the last 2-3 years against LSU.

So you're going to compare Orgeron's 4th game into an interim season to Les and his 11 years of building his team?

Wait so he gets all the credit when we broke lsu records but miles gets the blame when Ed Orgeron runs the same gameplan that we know won't work against bama?

1.) It was the absolute worst offensive performance by a Bama opponent in the season.

2.) The offense was far less imaginative in that game than in the 1st 3 games.

3.) Guice only having 2 carries was one of the most inexcusable things O could have allowed under his watch.

What I dont understand is that tgey simply didnt use anything from the offense that we had run prior to that game. What happened to the plays with Guice and LF in the same backfield? What happened to moving the pocket for Etling? The fact that posters want to give O credit for arkansad, missourri and ole miss and yet give him zero blame for bama and Florida is amazing.

Miles did not have that intellect facto

He took a team built entirely by himself and won the sec and played for a national title. That happened.
Also, unlike ed orgeron ,miles took over a shite program at OSU and made them respectable . O took over a program 2 years removed from a 10 win season and proceeded to have the worse tenure in ole miss history. That happened.

Remember that Orgeron takes over 1/4 into the season. He could not competently change the offense which was heavily predicated on running the ball. The only difference that I saw in the offensive philosophy was a change in blocking schemes that allowed for more zone blocking on runs.

What will infuriate me this year is if Harris goes to North Carolina and lights it up for Fedora and Co. then we will know it was sheer incompetence on Miles' part.

The Tigers still have a problem in that most of the starting O-linemen were recruited for their blocking ability as it applied to the run and not the passing game. Maybe this is easy to correct....maybe not

and playcalling. Can't blame every QB when they have 2 WR routs and both are to the sidelines. So glad Miles/Cam are gone.

This is just another bullshite rant myth. In 2015 our most used set was a 3wr set. We ran it 49% of the time and it was our leading set in 10 games.

it would be great if posters didnt regurgitate bullshite rant myths that aren't true

Um, maybe because every time we threw the ball it was out of 7-step dropbacks.

I'm not an either/or guy. A lot of factors went into our offensive rebirth when Les left. It wasn't all Orgeron. But I'm not going to knock him for struggling against one of the best college programs of all time in his 4th game. Plus, you also had Esminger trying to gameplan in his 4th game as OC.
