Thanks to everyone that has responded. In the last five years of posting nearly the same message to other boards, this has been the most expansive and helpful collection of responses I've seen. We are in for a great time! If you see us in our Illinois and Michigan shirts, give us a shout!

It's gonna be special. We'll be keeping our eyes out for you too wearing Arizona/Arizona St gear. Have fun and safe travels!

Officially a night game now. We're in for a good one!

You really have no idea what lies in store for you. Both the tailgating and the stadium will be at its best. You are 2 weeks away from a lifetime memory.

For food, I'm partial to Parrains on Friday night and Chimes on Sunday at noon.
Tailgating, parade ground.
This is good but age appropriate is 30 and under parade ground...over 30 Touchdown Village, motorhome folks are very generous with food and drink..

Can't bring backpacks or bags into the stadium so make sure whatever you have on you, you don't mind dropping in a trash can on the way in. Buy souvenirs on Sunday before you head out.

I've been going since I was a child and when I hear our band play those four notes during pregame I still get chills. Calling Baton Rouge is a must see in the stadium as well. I recommend getting to your seats an hour before game time. Believe me there will be a lot to take in.
Pace yourself! It will be a long day and the alcohol will be shoved in your hands along with the food. In addition to that, be prepared to see some of the most beautiful women in the country. Everywhere.
I remember when the Washington Huskies came a few years back, had a group of 5 young pups who didn't exactly pace themselves. They indulged heavily before the game and one guy kept saying "I love this place, man! I love your food, your booze and your women are so beautiful, and they're everywhere! Man, I really love your women!" LOL!
Keep us posted to let us know how things are going and of course we want to hear what you thought of the place! Same goes for our Arizona brothers who will be here as well.

Lots of good advice, but I'll throw some more out there for the day of the game:
Get to campus early 9:30-10:00 AM latest and have the game day itinerary in your phone or on hand.
Drive by TD village RV parking on Nicholson Extension to see the RVs parked for as far as you can look out with plumes of smoke from grills and pots filling the air between the flags flying with school colors. My Brother-in-law couldn't believe it when I drove him by it for his first game (He's from Boise).
I would make my way to the north gates of campus and hit Chimes around 10:30-11:00AM for appetizers and a cold draft beer. You could try some alligator, boudin balls and/or crawfish macaroni or even a boudin omelet and a bloody Mary.
Then walk through the north gates of campus south on highland to the parade grounds to view/enjoy some of the tailgating and partying and grab some food/drink.
I would next suggest walking between/around the indian mounds through more tailgating in that area. Then walk down the hill of North Stadium Dr. to see Mike's habitat (even though he's gone it's still cool to see) and there will likely be a band playing that starts around 3PM in front of PMAC. Then loop around south of the stadium through lot 101 and see the South Stadium Dr area tailgating.
Get back to the PMAC area to watch the LSU band come down the hill. After watching The Golden Band From Tiger Land play go back to a friendly tailgate to get a good drink before entering the stadium 45 minutes to an hour before kickoff.
If you're drinking, don't overdo it and miss out on the atmosphere of pregame, and you may want to pack an energy drink and consume before entering the stadium. Also may want to smuggle enough for a drink to avoid a headache in the second half (small flexible flask in the underwear).
Enjoy the entire pregame experience and be ready to feel Tiger Stadium. It's truly alive when its full on. It's like a carnival, circus and a gladiator colosseum with choreographed cheers.
Between plays pay attention to the band area and student section when it's rocking, and be sure to scream like a psychopath when the Tigers are playing defense.

If it's a good game you don't know what you're in for - seriously!!

How late do restaurants or bars near the stadium stay open after the game? My brother and I were planning on staying around for a bit since we are ubering to and from the stadium but don't wanna pay the stupid prices right after the game

Funny thing is he probably hears that everywhere, but just wait until he reports back! :-)

The bars close at 2 o'clock. Not sure about the restaurants. There is a 24 hour diner on Lake Street called Louie's Cafe.

Walk up to a tailgate, explain you're from the Midwest just in to see a good rivalry game, and offer to buy a plate of the exotic food you see. Then, get laughed at when your told that your money's no good here as the tailgate host mounds you up a plate, then asked whatcha drinking
This happened a couple of weeks ago at a tailgate we attend - guys walk up and introduce themselves and were from England - asked if they could buy a beer. Host laughed and said of course not and set them up with local beer and whatever else they wanted. Then came the plates of jambalaya and whatever else they wanted. They hung around for a while then moved on towards game time.
It is the same thing played out each week across campus.

Cant be stressed enough. Even though Ive been to hundreds of games in TS, Im already losing my shite to get out there for this one.
#1 gumps rolling in and we're breathing fire right now. BR is going to be lit.
and OP, with all of the great advice you've gotten you have to promise us one thing. You have to come back after you sober up the following Tuesday to tell us about your trip!
ETA: what section are your tickets in?

This is what I would do. There is more to see on the south part of campus but you can get a lot out of this route.

The Tailgating is great. And bring a flask in your boot to the game.

If you're a fan of Better Than Ezra, they're playing a concert at Walk On's the night before the game. Tickets are $20 and they always play a good show.
Some of my recommendations for places to eat are The Chimes, Louie's, Red Zeppelin, TJ ribs, Schlitt's and Giggles, Mike Anderson's, Parrains, Pastime, and if you're a fan of Raising Cane's the original location is on Highland near The Chimes. The food is exactly the same as every other Cane's, but it's a cool thing to see.
For bars just be sure to avoid Tigerland.
As far as tailgates, pretty much 90% of campus is covered with them. Some of the most popular spots are the parade grounds, the indian mounds, dalrymple drive, the rv lots, the old front nine near nicholson extension, the area between lockett hall and the design building, and the parker coliseum.
Be sure to catch the players and the band marching down victory hill and there's usually free concerts by the PMAC all day.
If college gameday is town I also recommend checking that out. They'll most likely be set up on the parade ground.
If you want to get some LSU souvenirs either check out the Bookstore by the Union or the sport shop by the stadium.
Be sure to get in your seats about an hour to 45 minutes before kickoff so you don't miss any of the pregame festivities inside of the stadium.

Also, check out Mr. Ronnie's Donuts on Lee Drive on Friday or Sunday. It's one of two locations (other one is in Houma, La) and in my opinion they're the best donuts in existence.
