Tiger Band - thank you

I want to put in a good word for the Tiger band at the bowl game. I know some of them read this board. It’s a small point but little details often are the difference between average and great. When our band entered the stadium from the parking lot it was raining hard. Our guys and gals were lined up and stepping in with their usual percussion cadence – very impressive. The Penn State band entered willy nilly like a bunch of fans simply walking / running in. They were not in formation and didn’t play a note.
Minor point I know but just one more reason to take great pride in our band.

in light of the debacle which occured the remainder of that fateful day, this is one highlight we can all be proud of..the band is always dependable with quality performance

Not to be a dick, but our band could have learned a lot from the Penn State band. I don't know if they ever put their instruments down for more than 5 minutes, and if they did, it was probably to scream some chant. I was very impressed by them. In fact, I still can't get that White Stripes song out of my head.
The Tiger band played way less than what I hoped for and did very little to try to get the fans involved.

The Tigerband is always fabulous!!!
And thanks to Frank Wickes who just finished out his last season as Director of Bands at LSU. End of an era and great legacy.
Seriously???
THAT WHITE STRIPES THING WAS CRAP. Annoying as hell. I'd rather hear the gay crap UF plays the entire game.
Seriously...play something else after the downs. Not the same song over and over.

They never put the instruments down because they played the same damn repetative song over and over and over. I wanted to stab myself in the face with a spoon.

Yeah uh, shut up.
They don't get the crowd involved? What do you think all of the down cheers are for? You're a joke.

A BIG THANKS TO TGBFTL...most home games this year, the band was the only thing that made our TS experience a good one.

Tiger Band Rocks!!! At the swamp last year, playing Hey Tebow this year, the percussion cadence thingy they do when walking in, they blow me away. Other bands should strive to reach the level of the Tiger Band. If there's a new director, hope nothing slides.

I thought the Band was great at the game.......The Band along with the students who were next to them showed great enthusiasm and energy all game long. They were esp. into the game at the end of the first half when PSU had about 8 plays to score a TD and didn't......The action was at the end zone right in front of the band and students.
From where I sat (section 329) the band was their usual outstanding group...They certainly were a source of pride and sunshine on a day that was far from nice.

Bragging about the band is like bragging about softball or women's swim team....

Not bragging, just thanking them. Even so, what's wrong with softball, women's swimming, etc.?

It was very strange at the game. We had great seats in sec 132, which was on the LSU side, but could hardly hear the band. Others around us were commenting about the same thing.

Thank you, Mr. Wickes, for 30 years of leadership and the great memories I cherish to this day of having been a member of The Golden Band from Tigerland.

You do realize how important many bands are to college football. Dotting the "I," running through the "T," etc. But I wouldn't trade any of them for the GBFTL.

2007 SEC Championship Game... Tennessee's circle drill was simply amazing! I love TGBFTL to death but we were beat that ONE TIME!

Don't know why you'd prefer the constant droning of one White Stripes song for an entire game over what Tiger Band usually puts out during a game. What do you suggest would have been better to get the fans involved then the cheers on every down, Neck, the fight song, Hey Fighting Tigers, and Pregame?

I figure because of where they were sitting that the Penn State fans probably heard the band better than any of our's did.
