Best case? LSU sweeps, Florida Sweeps, Clemson, Virgina, Wake Forest, Stanford all get swept.

Moscona had D1 Baseball guy on his show yesterday.
His concern with LSU is the road record and the midweek non conf record which both could weight against LSU if it is real close at the end.

He said 2/3 wins in Hoover and 2/3 at MSU would do it.

The one solid metric is he mentioned LSU had more top 50 wins than anyone - I believe it's 18.

The problem is that Kentucky has that many wins, too. No one seems to mention that.

Not arguing with you, but why not?

I think we can all agree Florida is essentially a lock for a national seed. I guess the big question is will the committee give the SEC 3 national seeds? Baseball, more than basketball, likes to group teams geographically. If given the choice between a 3rd SEC team and say, Stanford, does the committee "break the tie" by awarding Stanford a national seed so there will be one more top 8 seed out West?

It seems to me that it is a LSU v. UK battle for the other national seed from the SEC.

Currently UK has over LSU
- head to head series win vs. LSU
- Better non-conf. RPI
- Better overall RPI
- Better record away from home (11-11 vs. 9-10)

LSU has over UK

- Better overall SOS
- Better non-conf. SOS

Unfortunately, the scale kind of tips to UK at the moment if there is only one more national seed up for grabs.

If LSU wins 2/3 this weekend and UK loses 2/3, then LSU can tip the scale a bit more in its favor as that result would give LSU: a better record away from home (11-11 v. 12-13); more wins vs. the RPI top 50 (20 vs. 19)

Obviously a LSU sweep and Florida sweep would be the best case scenario, but LSU wining the series and UK losing theirs is probably the most realistic potential outcome

Because it's not the best case scenario. Period. If it's UK vs LSU for that last SEC spot, then you want LSU to sweep and UK to get swept. End of discussion. And then in Hoover, you want LSU to get to the championship game and UK to lose 2.

D1 guy seemed to favor Fla winning the series over UK which is better for LSU than UK winning that series. Better scenario is for Fla to knock UK back which favors the west team getting the second national seed from SEC. He does not think SEC gets three national seeds.

He thinks Fla is pretty much a lock and I think they get that because they play midweek games against Fla St and Miami and all the other top Fla schools like South Fla (who is really good this year)

Nothing against LSU but Tulane and ULL are down this year. ULL probably has to win tourney to get in.

LSU Sweeps, UK-UF split the series 1-1 with a rainout. LSU wins SEC, UF wins East.

If we're going this route, just take it the whole way and say the whole series gets rained out, right?

A great deal of the national seed deal is what other teams do as well. Sure If LSU wins out, they will get one, if they lose out they will not, but both scenarios are unlikely. At this point, just win the games. Heck we are not assured of a top 4 seed in the SEC tourney at this point. My goals are make the top 4 seeds win two or three against State and the Tigers will be at least a two seed, win one and LSU probably gets a top 4 and do a lot of scoreboard watching. Win none and hope Ags beat hogs 2 games to one. Clearly if the last two scenarios play out a NS is unlikely. I think Tigers will win two this weekend. Weather could really change all of this.

And, let it be written, that upon that day the LSU baseball program will fire everyone and be burned to the ground!

In what world would that be a better scenario than two sweeps?
