It seems to me like putting a player on the bench following a fumble is the wrong approach - personally I would give that guy the very next carry to keep his confidence up.

Thoughts?
My thought is I'm glad you're not the LSU head football coach.

pulling a QB for a turnover is drastically different than pulling a runningback. jesus you people are dumb

Then you are even dumber, since I clearly stated a comparison in which the QB had multiple turnovers in a game, and particularly in a short period of times.

Saying that a QB turning the ball over 3 times in 4 drives while also struggling mightily warrants a player sitting for a drive or two or even a half, is reasonable.

I understand, but why did KH sit out and AJ go right back in the game after his fumble? I don't mind the discipline, but it never seems to be handed out evenly...just a thought.

Again, you don't just pull a QB every time he turns the ball over. Simy put, it will throw off your game plan. See other posts above for more detail.

yet Lee would get pulled in a heartbeat

Yes, that's why Lee only threw 4 picks in 08, because he was taken out after every one. Otherwise he would have thrown some crazy number, like 16, which may have even directly given the other team a score or two, or seven.

Where do you people come up with this stuff?

Again, when it happens 3 times in 4 drives, it is an issue in college football.

So should Mett have been benched against Ole Miss?

I am not simply talking turnovers. When a player is struggling so badly, it is worthwhile to sit them down and let them settle down.

I don't necessarily disagree with this, but we were playing New Mexico State. You also want to see how your QB reacts in that situation.

By not doing that, Les and company made things worse on Lee his RS Freshman year. If you remember, JJ only came in once Lee was knocked out of the Ole Miss game, not because he struggled.

My roommates were on the scout team that year. There was a reason Jefferson didn't see the field during his struggles.

QB does...

But when the QB fumbles and throws 2 picks, he leaves him in.

So we should have benched Mett vs. Ole Miss last year?

Every QB has games like that. Maybe Les wanted to see how his QB would respond to it.

Mett threw three horrible INTs in that game, and had he sat a drive and been calmed down, perhaps LSU wins that game.

When a player continues to make the same mistakes, sometimes they need a reset, and that may be just a drive on the bench.

I never send bench the QB and never let him play again. In fact, I was disappointed Les didn't put Jennings back into the game in the last quarter at some point to rebuild some confidence.

1) Available equal options
2) A RB as big as KH and as experienced as he, is REQUIRED to be able to take that hit and keep the ball.

What else IS?

QBs get too much credit and too much blame.
QBs get the girl
QBs get the glory

It is a trade-off. But, I still think it is entirely "fair" to EXPECT a RB to take hits moreso than QBs, etc

Agreed....but sitting a RB is easier when you have 3 more on the bench. The tards asking about benching Mett at OM last year know the answer to this ridiculous question already.

That's because Jefferson was a true frosh and not ready.

JR vs. Tenn

Mett vs Ole Miss

I think you should give him a shot to make up for fumbling. Every player screws up, but the good players will make up for screwing up.

And was benched. After being booed by the entire stadium. I think he was punished.

Or if our defense just stopped them on 3rd and long with under 2 minutes to go, we win the game on his back

But nice to see that you would have benched Mett right there. Says all I need to know

He was still put in after all 3 turnovers for 3 more drives.

The booing was horrible taste by the fans, but they started it because he kept being put back in despite his struggles.

Jennings got screwed that game. He wasn't given a second chance to at least regain some confidence at the end of the game like I'd hoped which was a bit disappointing.

Also, for those clamoring about benching Mett, there is a difference between a guy that was a RS Senior and had been playing great all year to date and then having a bad day. In the end, I don't think it would've hurt to sit him for a drive that day, but after the 3rd INT it was too late.

Again, consistency.

Jennings didn't see the field in the last 40 mins. of the game, the 3rd string guy took his snaps, and he loss his starting QB job. I don't know how much punishment for T/Os you want for Jennings.

BTW, Hilliard did at lease return to the game.

Blue got the next carry vs TCU after his fumble

It was New Mexico State and we have a stable of backs. Good place to make a point

Can we at least acknowledge there could maybe perhaps be policy and precedence in place ii which the RBs know that if they put the ball on the ground, they are coming out the game?

Yes Mett threw three picks against OM and stayed in as well. RBs are different, especially when you have as many that can play well as LSU typically does.
