We lost that game because we had no rebounding. I mean Elbert was top 50 guy but he's terrible

This is Johnny's 4th year here, shouldn't we have enough depth to beat teams like this?

Some of it is bad recruiting. Big men are few and far between because the majority of the population is not 6'8 and above, so many schools go after the good ones. We took chances on guys like Epps and Elbert and it has NOT paid off

which is even more damning because recruiting is the one thing JJ is supposed to be good at

I don't speak for them, I speak for me. I have NEVER called you out. I will argue with you, and tell you my opinion, but you come into a thread and call me out by name...well, I'm not gonna say what that tells me about you (yes, that was a shot)

It is also not "criticism" when immediately after a game you go into threads and start calling out where people are because LSU lost

You realize how that makes you look, right?

bottom line really, if the AD wants a winner they're going to have to pay big, likely above market rate for a guy. Much like football did with Saban at the time.

If they're content with this, then keep on keeping on with JJ.

Could not agree more. LSU has never been a powerhouse bball school, and we're one of the lowest paid jobs in the SEC, but the fans are pissed because we are a bubble team. Auburn is paying Brucey nearly 3 million to be almost last in the SEC 2 years in a row with no end in sight.

CJJ needs a fire lit under his arse. We don't need Bobby Knight rants all the time, but damn show some emotion.

Perfect opportunity (shite take a T)was when Obamashon gets the foul that was rightly called on the floor and changed. Ok that happens. 10 seconds later the exact same thing happens to Ben and it's on the floor. I would have lost my shite right there on the ref's to make a point.

This team seems to play like CJJ coaches. Like their just going through the motions. I don't think you need to be buckwild all the time, but you have to get your team going sometimes.

Great Post Butt. I admire true LSU fans like yourself. I, personally, give up far to easily and just not really what you consider a good "fan". I'm too emotionally involved during the games. I guess it's because I've followed LSU since childhood. My expectations are very often unrealistic causing great disappointment when they lose. But the next day, after the emotions settle down, I'm able to objectively look at the wins and losses and evaluate the X's and O's a lot better from a fan perspective from those with better insight such as yourself.

I really can't add anymore to your analysis of last night. You hit it pretty much spot on. I guess I just have to believe that the players will give it their all and hope it's enough. A lot of pieces and luck have to fall into place to have chances at championships. I hope the Tigers can pull together and somehow make it in to the tournament. Who knows what can happen after that. Although, I have to be honest, and based on what I've seen so far, I don't see that happening. I guess this is a good time for hope.

Keep up the good work on the game previews! Excellent stuff!

Ben just coasts so much. I keep hoping the light will come on while he's at LSU (in the sense that one game he just shoots 30 times and let's the world know), but I'm afraid that's going to happen in the NBA. We will look back in 10 years and be blown away with who he has become...but we won't see it. It's a shame because 19/12/5 should be good enough, but it's not. So Ben needs to realize it's not and step it up, because he is more than capable.

I actually think Ben knows he's limited offensively and teams that sag way off and prevent his penetration can really frustrate him. Now, yes, he scored 20 so that frustration is relative.

But he has zero jump shot and can't/won't finish at the rim with his left hand. I think part of the reason Ben won't put the team on his back is that he knows his offensive limitations and doesn't want to show the world that he can't do it. Otherwise, why wouldn't he? Fear of injury? Fatigue? Not caring?

Sounds harsh, but I think it's true.

Or in the first 10 seconds of the game when they call a foul on Victor for poking at the ball on a rebound and the Bama player with the ball never even flinched.

Or how about letting these guys know when they take terrible shots. A 2 on 1 fastbreak should not result in a 3 point shot. But I guess Johnnie and I disagree over the definition of a bad shot because we take those ALL THE TIME and it has never been corrected.

I have a 24-hour rule. I just don't look at TD or any news outlet after a loss. Trust me, I got home, showered, got in bed and watched Breaking Bad til I passed out. I slept bad and am still depressed. I wrote that whole thing simply because it helps to have an outlet to get feelings out...as silly as that sounds since it's just TD

In some level of fairness, AU from a talent standpoint was arguably worse than where LSU was talent-wise when Trent Johnson left, and that is a program that historically is unattractive to even some of the better in-state recruits. They did at least show signs that they are starting to care about basketball by upgrading their facilities and scooping up Pearl when he was available to coach again. I would be willing to be a bit more patient with them.

That's new age basketball really. I was always taught to drive to the goal and make a guy commit, otherwise finish the layup. But look around the country and literally 75% of the time someone is running to the 3-point line to hit a "big shot". I mean shite, Oklahoma kills people (especially us) on that. The PROBLEM lies in the fact that no one on our team can shoot

I mean Hornsby is good overall, but Tim is pathetic for the most part and AB is spotty. JP has been looking terrible lately shooting, and other than that we have no one else who shoots 3's

My issue is we have people on this board that do root against the team. Honestly, that is what pisses me the frick off.

I doubt he coaches them to take bad shots. Just because they do take some 3's on a fast break doesn't make them bad shots. I just think we are dealing with players that have a low basketball IQ and don't execute. But who is he going to replace them with? TQ plays bad and you bring in JG and he plays just as bad

We are so awkward in transition.

Like the play against Oklahoma where the whole arena was waiting for the Patterson-to-Simmons lob. Instead, we get an anticlimactic Simmons tip-in.

Last night, when we passed the ball around like a hot potato in the lane, and then Blakeney finally kicked it out to someone (I think it was Hornsby) for a missed three.

Great post.

I woke up angry too. I'm sad, depressed and disappointed about last night and the season as a whole.

But I still support LSU Basketball through the highs and lows, and still believe in this group.
