Ok.. Last years Bama D was the worst its been since he arrived and we could ONLT score 13 points on our home field????? Plus can't blame Chavis for that loss... Bama got a TOTAL of 315 yards the whole game.. Their second worse amount of the season. Held them to 105 rushing... LSU had plenty of chances to win that game but when you have a QB that can only go 8-26 for a dismal 76 yds against A not so great Bama team, you deserve to lose... Were there drops?? Yes but there were also passes that were uncatchable.... Plus the out of bounds kick was inexcusable.. That's on Miles... This is what pisses me off about Miles... Had the game at hand and blew it at the end on offense that nobody wants to blame him for.... And then this so-called SUPER talented team goes to Arkie and gets destroyed...123 yards of offense????? I guess that's Chavis' fault to.

Some of the passes that should have been caught were several third down catches (3 I remember off the top of my head). Dupre getting pushed out of bounds on what should have been a TD catch. There were at least 5 drops that would have put hapless Jennings square in line with the 50% mark. WRs and TEs were having a pretty awful day.

Bama 2013
50 seconds left, 55 (5 rushing) yards for a QB that went 16/39 (41%) for 156 (4 ypa). He went 4/6 on that drive. They kicked the FG and put us in a situation they knew the offense couldn't get out of. They then give up the TD in OT like it was candy.

Notre Dame 2013
We put up 28 got damn points!!! How can you judge that? ND started their backup QB who hadn't played much all year. We had seen similar and better QBs like that earlier in Prescott and Marshall. There was 5 got damn minutes on the clock.
On the last drive
Zaire 1/2 9 yards 4 car 18 yards
Golson 4/5 50 yards
They went down the field, doing whatever they wanted. From their 15 to our 14 and kicked the FG and wins.

Ole Miss 2013
We give up over 500 yards of offense. We had just came back and tied it up 24-24 with 3:19 left. What the hell happens? The start at the 15 yard line and end at the 24 yard line and kicks the winning FG with 2 seconds left
On the last drive
Wallace 4/5 21 yards 2 car 16 yards
Mathers/Walton 6 car 24 yards

2012 Clemson
We give up over 440 yards. Game was 24-22 with 1:09 left. Again, what happens. The drive down and kick the game winning FG with no time left.
On the last drive
Boyd 5/7 58 yards

See a pattern here? What about the UGA game when we couldn't get a single stop? Not even for the final drive? What about the Bama game in 2012 where they let them run off 5 minutes and then scored the TD with 50 seconds left?

Why does his defense collapse at the end of games so damn often? We've already established that the offense is bad, but you knuckleheads refuse to agree on just how bad Chavis is on the final drive of games.

Just admit that Chavis gives the game away at the end. I just gave you 5 examples of where we should have won it. In 3 of those games, we put up at least 24 points.

So 3rd and Chavis cost us a game where we scored 13 points and had 76 yards passing at home?? This ain't the 1970's anymore. Hell its not even 2011. The game has changed. You have to score points to win.

Big bad bama and their "all star" defenses have been destroyed their last 2 postseason games vs. Ohio State(539 yds, 42 pts) and Oklahoma (429yds, 45 pts

Yes third and Chavis collapsed at the end of that game, what don't you get? You can blame the offense of course but you cannot negate the FACT that Sims going 55 yards in 50 seconds to get them into position to kick the FG, was not typical 3rd and Chavis. Well you can, but you're in denial if you do.

The idiots on here defending Chavis is ridiculous. He was an average coach and a horrible recruiter. He underperformed in just about every big game we had in spite of the amount of talent we had. And yes, I was saying this before he left for A&M.

The refs are nothing, no consideration.

Last year we lose to Arky, MSU, AU, and Bama. We lose to ND.

Yet our fans see one of the main contributing factors that we can't beat the premier team in the league as officiating.

It is baffling, we lost to Bams because they beat us, the same as the other loses we had last year

And Chavis' defenses were bad against the spread also. We got consistently gashed up the middle on read option.

Johnny Football's two shitty games against a Chavis-coached LSU def. say "hi"

Chavis pulls his defenses back in 2-minute situations and plays prevent thinking it will help, which is the complete opposite of what it actually does.

Let's hope Steele doesn't have the same philosophy late in close games.

No Chavis was gold against Manziel, but he has given up some RB numbers to some of the dual threat guys.

2010
Newton 28 car 217 yards 2 TDs
Masoli 11 car 64 yards 2 TDs

2011
Brunette 15 car 74 yards

2012
Enders (Towson) 12 car 86 yards
Wallace 11 car 54 yards 2 TDs

2013
Prescott 13 car 103 yards 1 TD

2014
-McEvoy 6 car 40 yards (could have went for a lot more)
-Prescott 22 car 105 yards 1 TD
-Allen (freshman NMST) 5 car 113 yards 1 TD
-Marshall 16 car 119 yards 2 TDs
-Driskel 21 car 71 yards 1 TD
-Zaire 22 car 96 yards 1 TD

He did that to a lot of teams that year...

quote:

Masoli 11 car 64 yards 2 TDs

LSU won....

quote:

Enders (Towson) 12 car 86 yards Wallace 11 car 54 yards 2 TDs

LSU won both these games...

quote:

Prescott 13 car 103 yards 1 TD

LSU won by 33 points....

quote:

McEvoy 6 car 40 yards (could have went for a lot more)

Could have??? Excuses...BTW LSU won....

quote:

-Prescott 22 car 105 yards 1 TD

MSU was a much better team than LSU at that point...Spent time at #1 4 weeks last year...

quote:

-Allen (freshman NMST) 5 car 113 yards 1 TD

LSU won by 56....

quote:

Marshall 16 car 119 yards 2 TDs

AU was gonna beat anybody that night,Plus the offense put the D in terrible positions most of the night........

quote:

-Driskel 21 car 71 yards 1 TD

LSU won......

quote:

-Zaire 22 car 96 yards 1 TD

Now this one I will blame on Chavis....
Overall he did a pretty decent job while he was here...

I noticed that you left out some of the great games the LSU D has played the last 5 years... Its easy to bash him now that he is gone. But I just bet you were cheering your arse off all those games the D was smothering other teams............

High School RB's that carried the ball a lot, DO NOT want to come into college and converted over to be blocking fullbacks that never touch the ball. If the LSU staff try to do this with Ducre, he'll get frustrated and wind up

In case you haven't watched LSU football in the last ten years, nearly every one of our starting RBs started out playing FB.

As much grief as LSU fans give Chavis he had a pretty good defensive scheme for spread attacks. His take away the quick throws and make the opposing QB beat you from the pocket defense takes them out of their comfort zone. Why he abandoned that style of defense in the last minutes of the half and game is a mystery to me. I could see doing so if LSU had a decent pass rush, but getting to the QB was not a strength for the past couple seasons.

The refs DID NOT cost LSU the game last year.

They actually did. On the very next play after Beckwith recovers Yeldon's fumble, they give the ball to Fournette. (I think) Point being is it's a running play.

The runner is stopped and you and everyone else watching can clearly hear the whistle blow. The play is over and done. Then the Bama guy grabs Alexander's thigh and starts pulling him, after the whistle has already been blown. No flags, nothing. It's only until Alexander turns around (you can see the refs staring right at it) and gives the guy the "what's your problem" thing when a flag is thrown. The play was over and the refs allowed that Bama guy to do that. Now we're out of easily a touchdown distance and pushed back into field goal distance thanks to the refs.

And it's always Ritter's crew. Always. Don't you find it strange how he always calls the games between us and Bama? This game. Both 2011 games, the game where PP7 made the interception but it wasn't called. It's always his crew.

Give me Hubert Owens or Matt Austin's crew.

I thought the personal foul on Vadal was the biggest difference all night. Instead of getting a touchdown we had to settle for a field goal. If we would have scored a touchdown, we could have possibly stopped them from scoring.

You do realize the style of offense we play dictates that game. We grind it out. Even though we have the skill players to put a game away les plays every game like an underdog.

The mentality is to keep it to a one possession game. Broncos did it with tebow. It worked for lsu against ole miss. Chavis and Les were a bad combo. The offense took pressure of the d at times by controlling the ball but when we couldn't sustain drives at the end of the game, you get 3rd and chavis.

Chavis is gonna flop at aTm He will have that 2 minute drill situation at all times because the pace of offense aTm runs.

Don't be a dumbass. I gave facts about how he has fared against some dual threat guys. You can say we won or lost Yada Yada yada, this guy did it to other teams, yada yada yada. The point was I was making is how we've fared against some running QBs.

Where did I bash him in that post? Come on tell me? Where is it? I stated a fact that he has given up some RB numbers to some dual threat guys. Nothing more, nothing less. Stop trying to pull out what isn't there like you always do.
