No doubt. Hope you are right, but I think it might be a lot of wishful thinking on our part. It definitely doesn't feel like a slam dunk - like many posters on this board are making it out to be.

This saga has merely confirmed that elements of our fan base are consumed by self-loathing and insecurity. Pathetic.

that you view as a step down. He would not have left LSU to go to FSU with the hope of taking a lateral back as head coach. Come on folks - we know better than this. Set our sights high, but not unrealistic. Same with Chip - if so, you better have a really good plan B, C and D.

Harbaugh left the NFL when he had offers for other NFL coaching jobs, to go coach at an ever declining Michigan football program.

LSU wouldn't be a lateral move, it would be an upgrade! Great competition in the SEC West, great prestige in the SEC West, the SEC Network. The challenge is greater and no need for politicking as a 1 loss team. More money for his assistants, Tiger Stadium, the cajun cooking, and he can actually bring his brother on staff because there is no law against it like in Florida. Let's not forget all the trouble Florida State is possibly going to get into with the reports of favorable treatments towards players (not his fault, but an Administration problem). He's also coached here for 6 years, and has ties here. Maybe he would love to ride out his coaching career in the comfort of a place he loved. Have his brother there with him along with his son who would receive great care down here.

Also the chance to match wits with a his former mentor and a living legend in Nick Saban yearly in his final years before his retirement.

I hope he comes. My only fear is not the issue with the OP. My issue is his custody, sick child and how cooperative the soon to be ex-wife is.

I think Jimbo wants to come back home. Hope his wife has great memories and friends in Louisiana she wants to come back for.

THAT is what is will all come down to.. IMHO. Family. Sick children. Custody. > $$$

UNLESS she wants to up that alimony payment...

Sorry, I just don't get the allure of moving to the SEC in this case. I mean, Jimbo's not at some B1G school where they play in cold weather, compete with the NFL and MLB for fan attention, and struggle to get a recruiting class ranked in the top 20. He's at Florida St, he gets all the SEC-caliber athletes he could ask for, and enjoys all the nice Southern weather we do- and he doesn't have to play 5-6 ranked teams in the regular season the way we do, just to make it to the playoffs. He gets all the SEC benefits and basically zero of the SEC drawbacks.

I doubt anyone wants to "match wits with Nick Saban" or any other such drivel, they want to fricking make the playoffs and win titles.

This is not to say he won't come if the offer is right, I don't even pretend to know the answer to that. But come on, now- you people really think it's a positive to play a tougher schedule for the same amount of money, with the same caliber of players, when the real goal has nothing to do with any conference titles?

Most LSU fans have become delusional with Les success. I agree a move to LSU is a lateral move for Jimbo.

Maybe he wants to compete against Saban. He's won a natty at FSU and I could see him wanting to cement his legacy as one of the all time greats. He's a competitor

LSU isn't a "step down," or even a lateral move. How can we drill it through your hard heads that LSU has better facilities, a better stadium, a more rabid fan base, is in a better conference that receives more exposure, and not to mention, doesn't have to share the recruiting base that historically produces the most NFL players per capita?

Isn't crazy how many of these so called fans belittle our program and talk us down like we are not a premier destination?

FSU isn't hurting from not being in the SEC

Yall under estimate how much jimbo probably loves that talent advantage he has there

I just think Bowden was there forever for a reason and be probably will be too it's a sweet gig and easy as hell to get the big game if your a good coach

I seriously doubt Fisher is leaving Tallahassee. Yes FSU can compete when it comes to coaching salaries. It is salaries for assistants we have to wonder about.

Not sure FSU wants to pay one and a half million a year to a DC such as Auburn and Alabama are doing. I think sitting in the middle of the FSU recruiting area makes up for some of that. If you can't win in Tallahassee maybe football is just not your game.

Same at LSU where state talent is all but locked up and Texas is there to recruit also.

LSU will probably get a good coach, the administration is what you need to worry about. Brady Hoke and DiNardo come to mind.

I have heard rumors Gary Patterson might be in play there. A guy like that or Tom Herman, Chip Kelly etc would make LSU football fun again for you. In mind, Herman is the real deal, an up and coming hotshot. The first thought I had when the rumors came up was, if Fisher leaves somebody get on the phone to Herman.

His offense won the NC for Herban and since he left Herb has been acting like the heart attack routine may happen again.

Herman went to Houston and boom 10-1 season the recruiting there is spiking dramatically now. And we are talking about Houston.

It looks like he was about ready to go to the coots, and then changed his mind. Don't know if his agent said wait something better is coming or what.

If he has serious ambition to make it into the NFL dominating the SEC would be a quick trip to the NFL...

No disrespect to FSU but by NO means is a move to LSU a lateral. Explain how???
If a coach such as JF is as competitive as most say and has high goals set ( beating the team from two states east ) then why the HE double hockey sticks not?!
Plus ties to here. The whole personal life is a different matter and wherever he coaches he will either have a tough time or not. From experience I wish him the best on personal issues. Why would he or any other competitive coach not want to come to LSU and strive to topple the beast from the east? It's a challenge and IMO it could set a coach up to become a legend. Or flip side a total flop. But for those of us who love our Tigers AND the reputation of LSU we hope he ( whomever that may be ) becomes a legend.

Jimbo left lsu for a lateral move as a OC at FSU. But there was the HCIW title. He didn't have a shot at being HC at LSU. However Jimbo is going through a divorce now and most people believe he loved his time at
LSU. Coaches at that level have big egos and the opportunity to play in the sec over acc and be the lone big school recruiting in a hot bed state is desirable by many coaches.
