How do you assume a squeeze play could have been executed in that situation? A fly ball to the outfield gets the run home. But a squeeze?

They did it before and it was less risky than gambling on a long pop up.

If you bunt, you know you are going to be bunting. If you swing away, you can pop up, miss, gound out, get a hit, homer, etc...

Too many variables, play the odds. Squeeze would have been a better chance than swinging away.

Case in point, we grounded into 2 DP's with RISP (and both times a runner was on 3rd base with 1 out)

I disagree 100%. A squeeze play there executes there way less than putting the ball in play. We hit into 2 double plays, but squeezes rarely succeed.

What about the one we got on Tuesday night? Or the fact that the first baseman for Auburn was slower than sap on a tree?

In this scenario, against Auburn, on the road, you squeeze and hope it works.

Right, and when it fails you say, "I can't believe we just tried the squeeze in that situation."

Mainieri needs to go after this season before its way too late .

Yup. I don't care to rant and rave, but we should simply expect better. The realistic expectations vs reality is way out of whack. PM is not into it. Hell, he brought up his grandkids probably 6 times at the last Coaches Committee.

No, it's not.

I'm not an alarmist, I know it's still early, and I tried to calm down with a few drinks after the game. OK, a bunch of drinks. But I am extremely disappointed with our coaching and team to this point.

LSU coaches cannot evaluate hitters. Bottom line. The state of LSU baseball is unacceptable. LSU fans can tolerate a terrible basketball program but don't frick with our baseball. Maneiris arse is bout to get so hot even TJs gonna be like "Daaaaaaamn!!!!"

While we're at it, lets just fire all spring sports coaches and just start over.

What I don't get is how Maineri was once able to clean house and possess the wherewithal to win a championship but be perceived seemingly so inept now.

Agree 100% I have had season tickets for 3 years now and I do not recognize this program. This is not the LSU Baseball I remember. It is time for Javi to go NOW and right after him CPM if next season is the same as this one. Hitting, Base running,Overall coaching stinks. Raph Rymes must have is own hitting coach, as he is the only consistant hitter we have. We will get hammered by all of the SEC teams. If I am right we have 10HR's and Florida has around 35HR's
Sad but true.

why should paul get another season if we miss the post season 2 years in a row?

javi should have been canned last year and since he didn't do what was right for the program their fates need to be tied together.

The only good thing Javi's ever done is giving the ump the business and getting thrown out after the hidden ball trick play in 08.

Anybody that reacts to 2 days of baseball has ZERO clue about the sport.

Rantards need to stick to worrying about football.

Umm, no...everyone is reacting because of the last 3 years of inconsistent play. This is just adding to it.

Well, whether it be a suicide squeeze, a double off the wall or a 2 run homer to win (usually the most likely), the LSU teams of old VERY rarely ever had a man on 3rd with just 1 out, 2 innings in a row, and did not make something happen.
