let me rephrase since you are intentionally misunderstanding. there is at least one team pretty much every season that can make a case for a national seed that DOESN'T get awarded it. why does that happen?

In the case of Florida and TCU, they can't make better claims. Paul Mainieri has more CWS titles than those two schools combined.

Ok, was LSU one of those teams in any of those years? If not, then what exactly are you trying to argue?

You've done no such thing. You've passed along generalities such as "Schloss is the best"

his whole argument is = CWS wins = success
it's not "my" argument and yes, this is how elite teams are measured. basically everybody on this board is telling you that except for you and the 2 or 3 other sycophants

but the candidates he listed that had CWS wins never won a fricking championship
OH MY GOSH THE FREAKING STRAWMAN AGAIN. if you didn't use that strawman, your keyboard would die of loneliness.

He also conveniently leaves out 2009 because it hurts his argument.
i have said multiple times that even if you include '09, that STILL doesn't make mainieri the best. it just moves him up the list some. but keep misrepresenting what i'm saying.

The fact that you think that Fresno State was without question the best team in 2008 is laughable.
it's like you don't live in reality. here's another question that will go unanswered - where does the 2008 baseball season national championship trophy live?

quote:

In a vacuum, it's a more thorough measurement than a double elimination tournament.
and herein lies the problem. basically nobody think this. that is why there is a postseason tourney. because teams can cadillac through the regular season. the postseason is where it's real. i have real trouble accepting that you actually believe what you're saying here. that's why there is a postseason. so that the championship is decided ON THE FIELD, not in a boardroom by some suits who are voting on equal but different teams they couldn't possibly have watched.

i'm going to explain the strawman yet again.

apologists get their panties in a wad because they think critics have unreasonable expectations so, they scold critics for this even though no one ever said that.

then, when comparing coaches, they hypocritically run to the national championship comparison themselves.

florida and tcu wipe the floor with mainieri in terms of cws wins. it's not even close. they significantly overshadow mainieri over 7 freaking seasons. why are you ok with that?

i'm just going to start pasting the same questions over and over until they get answered.

i've already explained it. when a group has to VOTE on national seeds, it proves that the teams do not directly control the outcome. therefore, internet knuckleheads are wrong when they claim that national seeds are "accomplishments." it's just a subjective comparison of the first part of the season. do you honestly think that kansas, unc, ky, louisville are touting their basketball tourney "seedings?" that's what you're saying here.

you conveniently missed the over the last 7 years part.

cue: "you're leaving out mainieri's best season"

response: how long are you going to give mainieri a pass for that nearly 10 year old championship? is that what lsu expectations have been reduced to? WE USED TO BE GOOD AT THE CWS! TAKE THAT TCU!!!!!

1. should miles have been fired? YES OR NO
2. why don't teams like tcu, florida, vandy, etc, have to resort to the silly "national seed" claim? why can they make BETTER claims?
3. mainieri isn't even top 5 in cws wins over the last 7 seasons. why are you ok with that?
4. who is directly responsible for the health of the program?
5. how can something be an accomplishment when you didn't directly control the outcome?

Well, you're giving Schloss a pass for constantly failing in Omaha, so?
