Had Mainieri won a title in 2013 or 15 (which he should have in one of those years), he would be considered one of the game's best coaches.
do you realize that IF that had actually happened, he really WOULD BE one of the best in the game. as it stands, he isn't. that should be a problem for you. he has the biggest budget, the most resources, the most fan support, the most exposure, the most EVERYTHING. you just proved that he's falling short, no pun intended.

your rofl icon shows that you aren't objective about "national seeds."

oh my word. here we go again

Can you answer it?
i did. SHOW US ONE TIME WHEN SOMEONE SAID THAT CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE THE BASE EXPECTATION. since you can't, then please feel free to stop acting like critics have unreasonable expectations

And I'm the one using a straw an argument?
yes you are and i asked you a question. why won't you answer it?

Resume alone, he is still one of the better coaches in the game today. He just hasn't lived up to it as of late. I'm not blinded by Mainieri, just don't think it's fair to discredit everything he has done.

This is not the 90's big dawg. The rest of the baseball world has caught up. And before you say anything, that's not Mainieri's fault. It was catching up on the tail end of Skip's time.

How so? In what was is a national seed not an achievement. It is a direct reflection of your body of work over the course of a regular season.

yep. because two different times, someone acted like critics have unreasonable expectations. i cited facts that show that isn't the case and why people are really frustrated right now. multiple people are explaining it to you.

I'm convinced you have no idea what it is

Wait, LSU baseball fans shouldn't expect to at least compete for a fricking CWS every year?

Because Terry Rooney is doing such a good job as an assistant at Alabama right now, huh?

i get that you don't understand this but - that's not good enough for the premier program. it's a facile correlation which shows you aren't being objective.

He just hasn't lived up to it as of late
7 years="as of late"

quote:

This is not the 90's big dawg
strawman makes another appearance. lsu has the biggest budget in the game. there is no reason for lsu to be surpassed at the cws by 8 programs over 7 years. that's just not reasonably acceptable.

the real world?

quote:

It is a direct reflection of your body of work over the course of a regular season.
no, it is not. it is a SUBJECTIVE assessment by an IMPERFECT panel of VOTERS. teams do not DIRECTLY control seeding. moreover, you yourself pointed out it is a reflection of REGULAR SEASON record in a sport that has a POSTSEASON playoff. get this - you actually have to go out and WIN ON THE FIELD after the regular season. that's the true measure for elite programs. here's yet another question which i realize will also go unanswered:

why do programs like tcu not have to fall back to the pathetic "national seed" excuse? why can they make better claims?

Ok, humor me, what years did LSU not deserve to be a top 8 seed?

And by that same logic, do you think Coastal Carolina was the best team last season, what about Fresno State in 2008?

ETA: And as for the as of late comment, you think last season was a bad job by Mainieri?

do you realize that almost every season, there are more than 8 teams who can stake a claim for a national seed? that's where the SUBJECTIVE part happens. it is voted on, not directly controlled by the teams. plus, it's just SEEDING. it's not actual cws wins. my word this just isn't complicated
