I understand what you're saying (and it's good to see a rationale reasoned discussion on here this week) I don't totally agree with it because I think the "crowd" knew when Smoke's tenure went bad and they'll know if and when Miles' tenure does.

But the comparison is interesting to me because the recent discussions on here have also been reminding me of the Smoke situation. But in another way.

There was a long time caller on the Songy show named Knucklehead or something like that. He would talk up Smoke and when Maneri took over he would run him down - always picking the negative points that are there in any season. I finally figured he was just really attached to Smoke as a coach.

Some of the Miles bashers remind me of this. I think some just really really can't let go of Saban and others just really are attached to a particular player who may not be playing at the present time. For the first group Les will never satisfy them. For the second the only way he would is if their favorite player were starting.

I actually see it the opposite way - although I know exactly of the type of person you are referencing.

Saban left on such a sour note that some people can't let it go. They go out of their way to point out Saban's flaws to distract from the real discussion which is LSU football and Coach Miles.

I give those idiots no mercy. Les Miles should stand on his own. Like I said earlier, last year, this year and next year will determine Miles tenure at LSU. He has the opportunity and believe me when I say I want him to succeed.

Definitely true that preference for what is or what was clouds judgment.

Yeah, I guess Saban really does fit the mold of a wife who has left for another guy. Some pine away for her and no future relationships will satisfy them. Others gotta bash her all the time. I just always see a whole lot more of the former on here.

This is very true. I'm of the show me crowd. Miles from last to this point has shown that in season changes are almost impossible.

Last year the defense never changed, and got worse.

This year the offense has not changed, but I hope it improves. Base on Miles inability to make changes, I'm not too encourage.

IMO, LSU is better than most of the teams that are in front of them, plus, losing to the #1 team doesn't justify losing 6 spots

I see a lot of both. And IMO both are too clouded to be objective.

Have a good night, it's been a pleasure even though we disagree on some issues.

the truth about a coaches ability is always in question, and is highlighted by the stupid mistakes he makes, being a honest man, he admits his mistakes unlike the fans who have their noses 6 inches up his..., a case where we have a good honest man who doesn't coach to our expectations, and blind fans who won't admit to what they are seeing

Passionate fans are great as long as they don't allow their passion to overcome their common sense.

I thank Smoke for his efforts while the LSU baseball coach, but Smoke took over a program rich in CWS titles and lead them out of postseason play all together. Les took over a program not long removed from a title and lead them to another title.

Totally different results in my book and what Les continued has earned him both my respect and my willingness to back him even if the ride hits a few bumps.

If you see that as holding hands and waiting for the end to come, so be it. I see it as backing a man who gave me a title in 07, who has done nothing but win in the postseason, and who has the best winning percentage EVER at LSU.

07 title was won by the players in spite of the coaching, and a lot of luck

Here we go with the luck BS again.

The 07 LSU team was 5-0 against teams that finished the year in the Top 15. You don't beat 5 teams in the Top 15 cause you are just lucky, but believe what you wish.

Yeah and we had a coach who was clearly not focused at the end of the regular season due to a shake up at his alma mater.

And your point would be??? I mean, since we won the 07 title and beat 5 teams that finished in the Top 15 along the way, he seemed focused enough to do that, huh...what does his alma mater shake up have to do with anything???

I agree. I used to come here daily, actually several times daily. Now I try to avoid it as best I can.

There are too many goddamn pussies with no backbone trashing Les Miles, Crowton, JJ, you name it. If something isn't 100% perfect, they're upset and all pissy about it.

I try to keep my distance.

Amen Brother.

This board has always had its Rantards who believe every day should be Christmas and are always whining like spoiled 8 year olds.

They've taken over now and are running wild.

I just don't read here anymore like I used to.

People are nuts... yeah im mad we lost cus the qb spot is on the coaches. I also see better in this team, but we didn't win all those games for nothing. There are some good teams out there that are already out of the MNC hunt and we are still in. O needs to get better and if we dont after the by week then we have problems.

I agree! People wake up, quit focusing on the negative!!!!!Les Miles is a great coach! Sure there are a few things that need fixing, but that's with any team. Be thankful for where this program is. In case you have forgotten, LSU's record just ten years ago was 3-8. In the 1990's LSU won only 54 games. Since 2000,LSU has won 95 games 48 with Nick Satan and 47 with Miles. We are ranked 7th. in the Nation. Now what in the HELL is wrong with that. If you don't like it, support another team!

Good grief. I really can't stand all the doom and gloom that is being spewn about on this board. How in the world can you guys possibly find any enjoyment in watching the Tigers when all you do is wait for any slip up, large or small, and then devour it and go online and tell everyone how horrible this team - YOUR TEAM - is? How can that be fun for you?

You spend all game looking for any measure for which we fall short, then spend the next week (or two weeks) extrapolating that error into the worst possible catastrophe scenario. If this is your idea of enjoyment and support, I really want nothing to do with that.

Let me say this. Les Miles is not an idiot.

Again: Les Miles is not an idiot.

You do not get to be a head coach at a school like LSU without learning several things about football and people along the way. He can clearly see where this team is falling short and will do everything possible to bring them ready to play and WIN their next game.

you are right. frick THIS BOARD . THIS WILL BE MY LAST RESPONSE AND THE LAST TIME I GO ON THE RANT.
YOU CAN ALL KISS MY arse YOU BUNCH OF LOSERS!
