The fact they still ban LSU fans tells me we must be doing something right.

You guys overreact to everything

So you go to an opposing teams page who happens to be ranked in the top 5 and is a TD favorite against a rival and you are shocked they are confident?

Because if things were swapped we wouldn't be right?

Ok. I agree there's not enough "football talk." I think there's more gotcha and baiting others into arguments. I don't like blind unbridled optimism in ones team bc that doesn't make for critical thinking on the issues that might matter (I don't blame people for thinking their team will win, just that they are as unstoppable as a meteor, as some tend to do).

Anyway, I noticed the change in you here on the LSU team board (I don't post much but read often just for fun). I think the real football issues is what the boards were made for - don't see it all that much. I was just curious.

I think LSU will run sideline to sideline more this game and use more spread running plays. bama's d ine and lb'ers are huge but they aren't as fast as ole miss.

I will step in and say i disagree about our DL not being fast or quick. This years team is much more dynamic and mobile than past years. Allen, Hand, Anderson will be all over the field and regardless of how the game goes you will agree when its over this Bama DL is as athletic and skilled as any we have had in years.

not bitter at all, just calling it the way it is. I will say that with out a doubt he is by far the greatest recruiter in the history of college football and that is the biggest factor in the success or failure of any college coach. It's tough for superior preparation, game day coaching, player development, and motivation to overcome, but it does happen at times (the 9-6 game being a perfect example of that). It's in those areas that LSU enjoys an advantage.

my bad. Should have made it clear that I was talking about with the exception of recruiting (which is a rather significant exception)

(I have to laugh at myself on that one

, due to that's like saying Shaq wouldn't have been that great a Basketball player if he was average size )

Say what you will about Neyland but 107,000 people can make a lot of noise. It was a hornets nest. Do I expect TS to be louder? Yes I do, but that was about as good of trial run as we could have asked for playing in Neyland.

Rise - I respect your objectivity (at least for a Gump - heck, in that context you're Oliver Wendell Freakin' Holmes) - but you're just flat out wrong on this point. Neyland has the quietest big crowd I've ever seen - on a consistent basis - even when Tennessee had great teams, it appeared the crowd could have only a minor effect on the crowd.

Yeah - our fans are fickle, don't show up/don't cheer for low draw games, but for Ole Miss, Florida, Bama and Auburn, particularly, we show up early, loud and kind of in a bad mood.

As long as it is close, this Saturday will be the wildest, loudest crowd - probably in CFB history - I would love to tell you that's hyperbole, but it's true. Heck, 2010 was tepid in the first half, but we brought it during the second half during the comeback - the second half of that game rivaled 2007 Florida. I think our last home game Ole Miss) was just the warmup for Bama, from a crowd perspective.

I can't really poke holes in the rest of your analysis. I think Bama can run the ball on us, and, on paper, the passing offense is probably the edge. This isn't the Bama OL of the past few years, and neither phase looks really impressive - Bama looks to have enough offensive balance to generate first downs and points.

Having said that - the true matchup will be our offense against the Bama D - again, not so dominant as a few years ago, still a formidable, well-coached, talented group of defenders. Bama run D against LSU run O - strength on strength. If our passing game came improve just enough to keep Bama honest on defense, I see this a slugfest - similar to what you describe, but even closer - each team settling for FGs 12-12 going into the 4th - 1 team mounts a TD drive and that's it. 19-12, but I don't know the team.

We'll see you there.

Man this might be the first one I miss since '08

When the game is in Tuscaloosa my uncle hooks his Lsu buddy up with 4-5 tickets, when its in BR he returns the favor. My uncle informed me last week that he has to be in north georgia on Sunday for business, so he can't make the game.

I texted a lady friend in school over there and she said that she may not be able to go depending on several factors. If she can, I'll probably watch from the friendly confines of the couch. If she can not, I will watch from the belly of the beast. The Lsu student section.

I haven't watched that many Bama games this season, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Tide is going with more athletic (versus behemoth) defenses to counter the proliferation of spread, HUNH, and mobile-QB based offenses. How many times this season has Alabama actually lined up in their base 3-4 defense with 4 LB's this season?

I hope that's true, because LSU's old-school I-Formation bludgeoning would be a break from the new norm they're geared to stop. I like LSU's chances, but know Bama will bring a solid game. Looking forward to Saturday.

They have beaten us 5 out of the last 7 meetings. We would be talking about a score of 41-14 if we were playing a team we dominated that way. They have earned the confidence.

Consistently throughout a game, only once. We were in 3-4 against arkansas. It's been 4-2-5 and 2-4-5 most of the time though.
