playing for the win didnt bother me.
Another cliche similar to "luck". WTF does it really even mean? Winning it right there? Getting a run to tie can win the game in the end can it not?

He had one of his best hitters at the plate with a runner on, and not a guy who was a bunter, he was playing for a bigger inning, like going for 2 instead of one

Been hitting in on the ground all day. They had a great scouting report on him. If he can't make the adjustment, as a coach, you have to do something, right? Last inning. No outs. 13 GIDPs on the year already.

And his average was what at that point of the season? Like .400.

He hit some of those balls hard that day, didnt he? Including that last one, where the luck comes in..hit it a couple of feet to the lsft or right and its a hit.

And thats all getting past the fact that it isnt 100% that he gets the bunt down successfully...ive seen so many guys at the college level not get it down. Prob closer to 50-60% chance he gets it down

TD Ameritrade (and Bregman's error) basically beat LSU that night.

He was rolling over balls all day. All grounders on the left side.

That and trying to hit 900 foot homers with bats and balls with 4 millimeter sweet spots.

No one was trying to hit 900 foot homers, but ibarra hit two balls that should have been out of any college park. We may bw talking about him as mvp of that series if it were anywhere close to a normal park.

How many of them consider themselves to be the premier team in the sport and set expectations accordingly?

The 90's are gone and they're not coming back anytime soon. We might have to adjust our expectations accordingly. Lots of schools are actually spending money on baseball now, unlike in the past.

PM has had some good teams since the 2009 season. He's just not hungry enough. He won a title and now he satisfied with just being a great program.

Paul has lowered the expectations of the program and is good at meeting those lowered expectations. He's the epitome of what Skip used to preach about and thrive on beating... "oh, just good enough is good enough... let's not make perfection the goal" "anything you vividly imagine, ardently desire,..."

You think Paul's thought that way since '09? It's hard to develop a 3rd starter and I can get by without one. Let's make another commercial showing what a putz I am.

And don't give me this crap about the game has changed. Of course it has but a championship coach overcomes and adapts to the change not whine about it. Coach Bertman would do whatever it takes to win in today's game. And would feast on the Paul's of today.

The number of teams that give a shite about college baseball is much higher now than it was when Skip coached. Not to diminish what Skip did at all....but it is much harder to win one now than it was 15 years ago. In fact, it is much harder to get to Omaha than it was 15 years ago.
