there are plenty of younger OCs out there that do not have the potential (or proven) downside of Kiffin

lol at all the Kiffin bash. I guess Louisville is upset they have Bobby P. Many on this board have called for Art Briles.

Get off your holy horse and realize this is college football. Les and Mark richt appear to be great guys. Lord Saban doesn't appear to be. So, you want to win or have a great guy? College football has been dirty for a while. There isn't an outstanding coach out there that doesn't have baggage or gets a little dirty.

We all thought Joe Pa was a great guy, look how that turned out. We don't know these people. I remember when people didn't like Frank Wilson because he was dirty. Coach O because he was dirty. now, people love them. Get passed your holy horse and lets look for a damn good football coach.

Wait, the idea is to get a coach that isn't more hated than Miles, right?

No, the idea is to win vs look like a big ten offense from 1978. The idea is to get a top tier current HC who can right the ship.

But at the end of the day, if all that doesn't present itself, you roll dice vs continuing on this antiquated unimaginative shite train IMO.

Didn't Kiffins tenure at Tenn result in a number of violations. Not sure what anyone has seen to make you think he anything more than coordinator.

There isn't based on crystals. None with the experience or in roads in SECW. But let's put that aside.

If you get a young OC you also need a proven HC which cost...money. Money we perceptionally don't have.

We are in a tough spot as a state university.

But, seriously, IF we "fall" down to Kiffin...we will end up in a better place than we are currently.

Have we really fallen that far?

I meant hiring a gamble, like a young OC, as a HC

We haven't developed aQB in a decade and couldn't score on Wisky with arguably the best offensive player in college football.

Something is going on in Bama....bringing in Sark as an 'adviser' is bad for optics (alcoholic, etc), but there must be a reason....

I would think Dabo (Bama alum)would be their #1 choice, but are they setting the stage for a little shuffle at the end of the season.... Saban retires, Kiffin HC, Sark OC....

OC, as a HC

I'd take Applewhite and promote O to HC. I'd take Kiffin with his baggage before that. Why they make chocolate, AND vanilla. To each his own.

Of course. But there's a ton of real estate between Miles and Kiffin. You couldn't possibly pick a HC that is more different - by any metric - than Lane Kiffin.

Well then, throw your Lane Kiffin idea out the window.

Yes, we will roll the dice anyway. All I'm saying is let's roll the dice on a guy that isn't a reactionary, completely immature, trolling Twitter addict douche with zero success as a head coach.

Imagine kiffin's offense, Kiffin and ogerons recruiting... salivating.
He has matured, doesn't act like an arse on the sidelines, and he has not failed as a head coach.
Those saying no way to Kiffin are clueless, he would be a great hire at half the price of a heman or jumbo

He has never been successful as a head coach. Some are born to be coordinators and that's where they belong.

I would be embarrassed, if Kiffen became our head coach.

I'd rather have Les, and that is not saying much at all.

Saban ain't retiring. Kiffin is probably going to be a head coach next year somewhere else and Sark is moving into the OC role.

Believe it or not, you CAN find both. I hope your head doesn't explode from this idea.

Regardless, conventional wisdom would tell you that, if you HAVE to choose, at least pick the guy that hasn't already shown himself to be a complete douche bag at every conceivable opportunity.

well LSU would certainly get some exposure.

Take away the OC of the team that has been a thorn.

Young aggressive cheesy dude. 2 out of 3 there

Would he take it and go against his mentor? The man who saved his career? Or would Saban convince him to stay at Bama and take over when the Lord retires???

I wouldn't call what he's done, given the situations, failing. He bolted Tennessee for his dream job, had to deal with extraordinarily debilitating sanctions at usc, and who the hell could ever win with the raiders...
I'm not saying he has a freaking proven track record as a head coach. He most certainly does not. I just wouldn't necessarily hold his past results against him. He's matured since Tennessee and has spent the last several years imbedded deep within the most well run cfb program in history.
I'd take a shot on him for sure.
