You’ve put too much thought into the dynamics of field rushing.

In psychology perception and reality May/may not be same.

In real life it is.

It was bad there really isn’t anything else to say. I’m a fairly young teacher by teacher/coach standards and I have been dealing with seniors for the last 6-7 years. Kids these days are much more prisoners of the moment than generations before them. They take recency bias to a new level, example A the idiotic argument that Lebron is better than Jordan. It takes someone who just wants to be a part of history so bad they ignore logic to make that argument just like it takes that same cognitive dissonance to justify LSU storming the field after beating Ole Miss. Pretty much it is right/ok because it made me feel good.

Holy recency bias, Batman.

You have NO idea what teachers were dealing with in the 60s-70s with high school and college students. The irony of your comment is funny and kind of sad at the same time.

I think the younger kids just want to be in the collective moment.
Maybe they have a much more highly inflated view of Ole Miss than us old timers.

I was there in 86 when OM beat LSU, it was quite the shock. The OM program was pissed that LSU didn't believe the rivalry was valid anymore so it was sweet for them, but they've been rare.

One question, will we rush the field if we lose to bama? I believe that drinks will be 2 for 1 after reality sets in? That would be a reason to party for.

I get the premise, but we won a NC TWO years ago. We were down for a brief second. We've won more NCs in the last 20 years than any other team not named bama.

Do what you wish, but rushing the field is intended to be a special event due to rare events.

Beating ole miss for the 16th time in 20 years isn't special. Two years is a blip on the radar.

They rushed the field because finally the fog of the last 2 years lifted and we showed we could hold our head high and put a competitive team on the field.
It's actually not this deep at all. Nobody was rushing the field until a couple of dudes on the west side hopped the fence and the students saw it.

It's simple. Ole miss had a 7 next to their name and it sounded like fun

The people who rushed the field after we beat what will amount to a middling Ole Piss team are idiots. This was certainly not worthy of a field rush. You can't dress it up, put lipstick on it and say "it's a Louisiana thing". It's not. We looked like losers. We looked like Kansas.

You don't rush the field for a team that you've owned and hasn't won anything in forever...especially OM. That would be like rushing the field for aTm if they were ranked top 10. You just don't do it.

I’d rather beat Bama and not rush the field. It sends more of a statement.

except when we stormed the field after beating them seven or eight years ago.
People bitching about college kids storming the field for their first top 10 win after two years of Covid BS, as well as terrible football, sound like huge losers
