Then you understand that there is a market value for these goods, and people can enjoy these things if they are willing to pay what you pay. It's life. Lowering ticket prices won't do anything but hurt the program.
Look I appreciate the folks that yell their asses off every game, but that contribution is small in comparison to the money raised from corporate boxes and block season ticket purchases.
Also for people saying they can't afford tickets, you wot be able to do this for the best games, but most games, you can bring your kids and maybe spend $30 per ticket outside the stadium.

ESPN is why. I'm soaked, my kids have blue lips, and LSU is smashing AU. I can stay and be uncomfortable (which, I would do but I'm also a parent) or head out early to my house and catch it on ESPN. Nothing to do with money. I'm no baller, and usually stay.
Also, you used to party in TS. Band played songs that you could join in on. But, because of a few choice words you can't have on ESPN, they cut them out.
Its ESPN's fault!

I disagree with you. I believe the root cause of the problem is success. LSU fans have become use to winning. Once the excitement is gone from the game the crowd heads out to tailgate with friends and watch other games. I watched the same growing up in Altanta when the Braves turned it around. Early 90's you couldn't get a seat at a braves game.
Now they don't even sell out playoff games.
It's no different at UGA, Bama, or any where else.

The easy availability of tv coverage is also a major change over the last twenty years. It's just too easy to save your money and invest just a few hours in the game rather than a whole day.

this. and their women are very very tall. just imagine very tall women, half naked, with purple and gold asses. nobody goes home early then.

The root cause of the crowd issue
But srsly, I have a friend that picked up tickets at face value at the stadium last night, lower bowl, 40 yd line. Friends with him got uppers for $30. Those that bitch about the lack of fans, (me included), should just show up and try to find tickets on the cheap.

Every game is on TV we have some of the lowest foundation fees in college football. I do not understand why some purchase tickets, drive to campus, tailgate then leave early, and will never understand it.
But getting home is easier with lighter traffic.

I am not advocating this. Not sure where you got that from. I'm simply making an observation that the necessary evil of high ticket prices has changed the traditional demographic of who actually attends the games. And I think our current group is a bit less hardy than what we've had in the past.

The simple solution is to have most games at 2:30 cst. Have only "the game of the century" types at night. The demographics have changed. The culture has changed. Time is a premium.

I think you are on to something here.

I just wish people would realize that LSU tickets and fees are less than Alabama, auburn, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and A&M.
ETA: and there's not a game on the schedule that one can't find tickets to for less than the cost to season ticket holders if they actually try for a fraction of the amount of time spent bitching about big bad TAF

Root cause is traffic and BR's poor road design.

IMO, the root cause is that Miles allowed the offense to bore the fans to death after going up 21-0 in the first quarter.

Not bitching about the TAF. Member and big supporter. Just making an observation as to the changing nature of our stadium crowd.
Posted on 9/22/13 at 12:35 pm to lindsfav
A good portion of the crowd that left were in the season ticket area. The weather was expected for several days in advance. If you are not going to stay let someone else have the tickets!

If you can afford 5-7 thousand for season tickets, then you can afford to let them go unused on a rainy night with the game on espn. I realize the money is needed to compete, but it has changed the nature of who attends the games away from our more traditional fan base.
Sorry the students don't pay anywhere near what you are alluding to and they were the worst offender. So this argument doesn't hold water in this case.
Posted on 9/22/13 at 12:36 pm to lindsfav
The problem with the theory is that in every other good sec program the tickets cost more than at LSU. So it's not like the glorified blue collar fan is any more able to buy season tickets elsewhere. I've been to a lot of away games and there's no atmosphere as electric as tiger stadium for a big game.
Posted on 9/22/13 at 12:38 pm to lindsfav
I think the biggest factor is that almost all of the games are on tv and the injection of HD tvs into the market.
Posted on 9/22/13 at 12:40 pm to lindsfav
Don't mind it! This way I can stay the whole game AND beat traffic!
