You're quickly climbing up the Rantard power rankings.

Mickey Johnson- Major miss on DT here
I thought Mickey Johnson was a late offer after LSU missed on Tim Jernigan.

Quentin Thomas- Meh player. Not much was expected out of HS though
Wasn't he also a late offer? At least he has contributed more than being a practice player.

Based on your prediction on how LSU finishes out the season, that's not as much of an insult as you're hoping it is Samsonite.

Sure, the offense really needs some creativity, but our record would be the exact same if Chip Kelly were running this offense.

We are going to have to go juco next year or bust. Wish we could get some DT this year.

We should've taken the chance on Prescott here instead of Rivers IMO.

Not a big fan of the JUCO route. Recruit your arse off, and play the young players. The JUCO route is what cost Jackie Sherril his job, and put MSU in a hole for a decade.

There are plenty of DT's in this state alone that we should be after. No reason to go JUCO.

Great post. The major issue is that the 2013 class, while it appears to provide help to the OL, does not help the DL. Herron, Bain, and Gilmore all appear to be underperforming. Bower and Lacouture are nothing special. If Valentine and LMFAO aren't up to billing, where does the help on the DL come from?

I wouldn't say "underperforming" exactly although certainly they aren't yet up to speed. DT is a position that takes some time to (re-)learn when a player moves up to the next level. It also has a high bust rate, which is why you need to take a lot of them. I think these guys will be good but it just takes a lot of reps at that position for some reason.

I am with you on most of this, but how can you call Danielle Hunter a disappointment? I think he is one of the bright spots of the defense.

Thing is, if he had any help at the DT position, he could actually get to the QB.

Your laughing then giving zero substance responses to my very reasonable season prediction and assessment of Hunter transcends your status as just another zomg chicken little Rantard

Good news is help is on the way
Head Coach Sean Payton
His best bud Jon Gruden will run the offense
Rex Ryan will come in and run the defense
Payton will go get Bridgewater off hoops team to be his Jimmy Graham
Now he just needs a QB!

but his play agianst the run has been sub-par.

that's actually been Hunter's strength imo. he;s not much of a pass rusher. the word beast is thrown around these parts too much though.

Hunter LEADS THE TEAM in tackles, has 2 sacks, 8 QB hurries, 2 forced fumbles, and a 25 yard fumble return for a TD. He's a beast.

but he isn't a Heisman candidate...and the fact he doesn't have a lot of help on the inside is not helping him at all...generally, from my past experience in football programs, it takes all 11 guys to make a defense go...it's hard enough with 11, much less the 5-6 that we have playing at a SEC level this year...

Did we recruit this kid?

I still believe we are better off taking kids from Louisiana first.

Auburn's 2012 class was chock full of Oline talent.

That's the class that Grimes recruited. Auburn fans can say what they want, but Mason had 1000 yards rushing behind that OL with 5.86 ypc. The backup had 570 yards on 6.06 ypc. The two totaled 14 TDs in only 12 games. IMO, their passing game was shitty, so they should have relied on their run game more. Their two best RBs, only carried the ball a total of 22 times per game.

They blame Grimes, but the OL he recruited in 2011, 2 years later, was the stout one that took them to the NCG and broke Auburn rushing records and was the top rushing unit in the country.

Grimes was at Auburn from 2009-2012

He had at least one thousand yard rusher each year, and each back up had at least 500 yards. This does not even incude Cam in 2010.

People loved to blame Stud, but we only had one bad OL, and that was 2009. The thing was, that his OL was a road grater, run blocking. They were never a really good pass blocking unit, because we don't pass as much.

Choosing Johnson and Thomas over Chucky Hunter was a big swing and a miss. Thomas wasn't a late offer. Hell he didn't even play his senior year. MJ was a late commit, but not a late offer. The staff was infatuated with his weight room numbers. They told Hunter he was too short to play college ball.
