I think we're all confused as to what exactly Miles wants his QBs to do on offense.

It's almost as if a slow QB is better for this offense.....Mett was so damn slow, that running with him was not an option so we were forced to actually use our talented RBs.

we scored a lot of points that year. It was effective enough to win, in all of our games but Bama. If LSU has a great defense like it almost always does (this year excluded) than we don't need a great offense, we need one good enough to win behind a strong defense.

In 2011, we had the SEC's leader in passing efficiency going into the Nov 5th Bama game. 14 TD passes, 1 int.

Then, inexplicably, Les decided to basically end the kid's career based upon him throwing two picks against the nation's top defense.

Another thing just because a player is listed as a dual threat QB doesn't mean they are a true dual threat. Look at Winston for example, this guy was listed as a dual threat QB, but at FSU he leans on his arm skills and not his legs. I don't believe Harris or Jennings are players who lean on their legs. Both players are QBs who can throw and run but when having to decide what to do they will lean to throwing it.

We are not tailoring our offense to suit these guys sorry. Running this I-formation, 2 wide out stuff won't work. Even Saban this year is going against his usual preference and changing up things for Sims running no huddle spread type stuff. You think we will ever see Miles adapt like that? He's been here 10 years so I think we know the answer.

I don't disagree that we can use our QBs better and not line them up in the I. But I don't think we should just say that the will never work with Harris/Jennings.

Heck at this point I'd settle for running a QB draw out of the shotgun around the goal line. That would be a revelation.

Our problem is Jennings and I will live by that statement until I am proven wrong. Its not that he doesnt have the athletic ability, he just slow from the shoulders up. He will not be the starter by the end of the season. Go watch the game over again and count how many times Jennings makes a stupid decision and we pay for it. 4th down and goal, if he pitches we score. 3rd down and goal if he tosses the 2 yd pass to the full back we score.

Yep. Hannagriff and Risher said the same thing.

Which begs the question why did Rivers/Rettig leave the program? It's almost like they were told we would go to a more QB run based O and then we reversed course after they left. What is going on?

Great OP

Which makes our QB recruiting all the more confusing.

Which brings us back to the original "square peg/round hole" argument that I made in the beginning. Why do we bring in QB's who are not seemingly a fit for what we are trying to accomplish?

Yes, we need to go old Mike Vick offense at Va Tech. Go shotgun 4-5 wide, one back. Let Harris fling it around or take off. At least this would give opposing defenses something to prepare for or fear. NO ONE FEARS 2 TE POWER I W FULLBACK.

rettig and rivers transferring is surprising because the offense is tailor made for a pocket passer.

Harris has the arm talent and pocket presence to be a pro-style QB, but he will need the reps to get comfortable in that role. Jennings does not have the arm talent, but he would succeed in a spread/pistol offense because those are one read offenses for QBs.

Yep. I equated Jennings to Darren Thomas from Oregon a while ago. Jennings would excel in that offense.

Harris is a dual threat, Jennings is just a mobile pocket passer.

Harris could really ignite this offense if Cam runs the offense he ran with the Ravens. Either that, or go shotgun spread and let him sling it around. These SEC secondaries are trash. We will be in shootouts every game.

Why would you be shocked at Rivers transferring?

Jennings was more pocket passer than dual threat in high school

I wouldn't say he would excel, but he would be a lot better in that scheme than the one he's currently in
