Because LSUs offensive scheme is so complex, right?

It probably is more complex than most will admit...it gets vanilla and boring because of poor execution, so it turns into a TOP strategy; therefore, run oriented and one dimensional.

that kid was the real deal in HS. I'm from Parkway and all my friends that live there now watched him. '15 should be a different feel with him at the helm. Hold tight negatigers! A little more develop, maturity, & more gumbo!

Ok so since it is complicated, and it has zero production. What would an intelligent person do with the offense?

When it is running at full strength it is damn near impossible to stop. We had a ton of first year guys getting snaps this year. Fournette, Diarse, Quinn, Dupre, Williams, Harris. We had guys in their first big role instead of garbage time in Dural, Jennings, and Smith.

The great part is that ALL of these guys will be back next year with a year under their belt. The offense is going to look a whole lot better just on the experience gained alone. That doesn't even include new and incredbily talented guys that will get into the fray like Guice, Tyron, Washington, and Ducre.

Yeah, LSU offense is really complicated, dive play off tackle. I don't think Les or Cam are capable of coaching any QB

We've seen that the offense is much more intricate and dynamic when the coaches trust the passer (Mett).

They clearly stripped down the offense this year to protect our inexperienced QBs. When you strip down a pro-style offense that's what it looks like. As they get better they'll open up the playbook.

The offense (formations, play-calling, personnel) was entirely predictable. Looked like a middle school offense. Maybe the reason Cam went extreme vanilla is that he didn't have a QB he could trust, but still, I didn't see the "complexity" everyone is talking about.

What I believe happened was this:

Cam began the season with the same vertical offense that thrived under Mett and Jennings was struggling with it. After the MSST and NMST games, they inserted Harris to see if he could fare better. When he showed against Auburn that he couldn't, they made the transition to the "middle school offense" and that worked well enough until Vadal and Porter missed the Arky game.

If you look at the game splits for Dural, I think it supports this... but neither of us will convince the other. Only Cam can do that next year.

In hindsight, people bitch at different times that we should have thrown the ball AND run the ball more. That's the definition of unstoppable balance.

Also, very excited to see Donte Jackson run the Dural sweep.

The "offense" that Mett learned while he sat a year at LSU and then the 1st year he started WERE UNDER STUDRAWA, not Cam. Mett was only under Cam for his last year.

Damn don't you get it? Did you even read my post? Mett after all that great training with his 6 months at UGA and training at Butler Community College, then learning the offense here for a year, he still looked like an inconsistent QB who needed a lot of work.

While Lee wasn't great, he did well enough in his 8 starts in 2011 (first year in Stud's offense). He had 63.2% cmp, 13 TDs and 1 int. Mett's numbers (his second year learning Stud's system) were 56.5% cmp, 7 TDs 4 ints.

So again, if Mett had all that great learning at those other places, and had two full offseasons in Stud's system, why couldn't he play better than he did as a redshirt junior? Why didn't he look better than he did? Why did he look much improved in a different system, with an actual good QB coach with pretty much the same damn cast of characters (pass catchers) he had the yead prior?

Your post didn't even try to respond to what i said. I said Mett learned an offense for two years, still sucked as a fourth year player. He gets with Cam, a new offensive system, with pretty much the same cast of people, and he improves immensely. Some scouts and media members say it was one of the greatest one year turnarounds they had seen.

Most college offenses aren't complex. NCAA rules limit practice time and coaches know that they can't install NFL-type offenses with all the wrinkles. Most of these kids don't have the ability to play in the NFL, so coaches water down the offenses to keep them generally understandable.

Mett ran an NFL level offense in 2013. One of the biggest selling points the scouts had on Landry and Beckham were how high of a level their route running was because of that system. Ej Manual also said that Fisher's scheme was more complex than the Buffalo Bills.

Of course the offense was dumbed down this year. Non of the kids could run the 2013 offense. Why don't you guys get that it is complex? Have you seen Dural's route running, or lack there is? We don't run many routes or higher level ones this year and the playbook was very limited because of it.

But I'm done telling you guys about this.

I remember when the story broke that it was Landry who called for the play that beat Arkanss....

Wish we had that familiarity with the offense with our current skill group.

He didn't call for the play but what he was as an experienced WR who get it, said hey coach they are biting on me hard, let's take a shot downfield.

When the Tigers needed it most, Landry called for the “Tsunami” play, and the Jennings-Dural combination quickly washed away any hope for an Arkansas upset in Tiger Stadium.

“Jarvis threw it in,” Dural said. “He had been saying it for like three drives. He said, ‘We should run Tsunami. The nine is going to be wide open.’”

“I liked the play a lot,” he said. “In crunch time, coach trusted my assessment, and we made a play.”
