Did you watch more or less than 3 Oregon games this year?

It was sarcasm, this is the first year Oregon has had a qb with real talent and that is even debatable. My point is, that simple offense put up more yards this year than we have since Miles got here. So, being an ignorant guy, I would go to a more simple offense in order to get production, rather than waste three years teaching a guy our complex offense in hopes of having a bigtime offense once every four years.

If you think LSU ran a full prostyle playbook this year, you are kidding yourself.

Thats play calling to protect a below average qb.

You lump "prostyle offense" into one whole category, when actuality, there are many different offenses ran in the pros.

No there isnt. Sure there are differences in the formations that certain coaches run, but there isnt this huge variety of offensive schemes in the nfl.

Yes, that is ignorant. You don't even realize that what you're upset about isn't the offensive philosophy, but the gaps in QB succession.

The prostyle offense isn't horrible, but you must see that running an offense that is so complex and superior that you've never had a quarterback pick it up within 2 yrs is an absolutely insane approach to offense?

IMO we have got to stop recruiting dual threat qbs and making them do things they've never done in high school.

JJ had a decent 2nd year in 2009.
17tds-7 ints and 61% completion and a 137 qb rating ( which was higher than Flynn's qb rating in 2007).

You're telling me that our coach has chosen to have a shitty offense bc you've just listed "simple" systems that have brought teams to title games and NC's.

5 national champ teams since 2007 have run a prostyle offense.
Miles didnt choose a shite offense. Our offense is fine when we have a qb that can execute it

That'd be great if LA high school coaches could get on board with it instead of putting the best ATH at QB and having him run circles around everyone.

Ours is complex

even if that were true, which I don't believe it is, why don't you see that as being a problem? Why all this complexity with no apparent advantages but plenty of obvious disadvantages to it.

To be perfectly honest, I've gone back and forth about which offense I'd ideally like to see us run. I think it's a matter of having a consistently very good offense regardless of personnel or having an unstoppable offense with the proper personnel.

At LSU, we shouldn't ever have to worry about a shortage of talent, so I tend to favor the offense with the higher ceiling... It's also a feather in the cap that the system we run is better at preparing our guys for the next level.

I really don't see where our offense has a higher ceiling than Urban Meyers Ohio State offense or that it prepares players for todays NFL any better

Total yards is skewed by how many plays you run. For example, in 2013 lsu was 12th in the entire country in yards per play, BUT we were 105th in plays ran which makes our totals low.
Yards per play and points per play are a far better measurement of an offense's success, than total yards.

JJ had a decent 2nd year in 2009.
JJ wasn't really DT in HS, but the staff attempted to morph him into one after 2009, and 2010 seemed to show the struggle of square-peg-round-hole syndrome.
He looked to be more at ease with the DT role in 2011, but sort of lost a year in the development.

Our offenses under Miles have been good. 2006,2007,2008 ( outside of JLee's pick 6's, our offense was good. We were 22nd, in the entire country, in offensive points per game),2009 our offense was 16th, in the entire country, in offensive points per game, 2011 offense was great, and 2013 our offense was great.

Right but the statement i was replying to said no qb under Miles has been able to grasp the scheme until after his 2nd year at lsu.

Until this year, the 02 and 04 offenses were the worst in the saban/miles era.

Yet somehow fisher is some genius and took until his 7th season at FSU to produce an offense that didn't struggle at times.

We do run a pro style offense. Do some reading of the air coryell offense. Very similar to what we run.

The first route for the qb progession is the deepest route, hence Jennings locked into dural and not progressing to the shorter routes where the tes were wide open all freaking season.

Yeah its amazing how some posters refuse to give Miles credit for our offenses in 2006&2007 but they blame him when our offense isnt great. There are posters on this site that think Mett was developed by Richt .Mett spent a total of 6 months on UGA's campus.

no one can deny the incredible transformation Mett made from the 2012 to the 2013 season. No one should expect that kind of transformation in one season for Harris and Jennings, but with improvements to the offense and normal development from Harris and Jennings, we should see a big improvement in QB play next season.

you mean you think he deserves another shot in games where we, the fans, can decide if he's good enough.

you probably don't realize that he gets his shot in practice and that the coaches know where he is in his development, both skill wise and leadership wise.

if you had played football at a higher level you would know this.
