btw, if he is a coaching genius, he should have won state every year with Karr. Im not sure that u understand the definition of genius.

Karr should've won state 2 out of the 3 years he lead them there. The first year when Tonka George was QB they had several bad calls in that game against Franklinton... The next they beat handily by Neville with an injured Speedy Noil... The next year his last year at Karr with a healthy Speedy they won it all.

His only downfall is college coaching experience.

Frank needs help...Bama has more resources than we do on the recruiting trail...Juluke's coaching and credibility in the south louisiana area among coaches, parents and players is only rivalled by J.T. Curtis...He would be a huge get...not a "hard on"...just stating what is known in the area...
If we need TWO guys in New Orleans then we are screwed. I think what needs to happen is to admit that our philosophy, approach and the execution of both left much to be desired.
Frank is our #1 in state and New Orleans guy. He also has the Recruiting Coordinator title. Typically, the RC guy is an administrative type who maintains a schedule, ensures the plan is executed, that guys make their trips and touch base at schools all over and are doing what they need to do with kids.
Look at Stud and Cooper. Both were axed and reports are that these guys claimed they went places that they never did. Who was holding them accountable? The same guy who is supposed to be recruiting NOLA and SoLA as a whole.
So when people say Frank needs help, I agree. But, he doesn't need help as a recruiter. He needs help with the Administrative aspect of the job. He needs help with schedules, itineraries, Evals, planning, contingencies, strategy and most of all....EXECUTION.
If we are being honest, the disaster in state revealed we made huge bets on in state kids and kept quality players here on the back burner or never even considered them until far too late, which forced us to bat almost 1.000 out of state in order to finish where we expected to.
The failed strategy was rescued late-Haley and Raymond put in work, as did Ensminger believe it or not-but banking on that bailout year to year is extremely foolish, and I'm being kind.
The big issue is that Frank would be asked to take a paycut to lose the RC title, but it's obvious we are asking him to do too damn much. It's a bad position for us to be honest. But he needs help with strategy, planning and execution. BIGTIME.

all the help Frank needs is right here on TD. the first step to admitting you have a problem is asking for help. we're all helpers here Frank.

Before he had the recent Karr group how good of a coach was he? Anyone would have done well with that group

My guy would be for Tim Brewster.
The guy has coached special teams, Wr, and TE extensively and has coached in the states of North Carolina,Texas, Minnesota, California, and Mississippi. He is currently the recruiting coordinator and TE coach at Florida State so we know he is an ace recruiter. Add in his Mississippi, Texas, and Florida ties and he's a home run. We should make him a sizeable offer to consider leaving FSU.

Personally, I think that the staff responded to the disappointments remarkably! I was really surprised with the comeback! I'm sure they learned a thing or two this recruiting season...we'll only get better...jmho

G Funk, you make a number of valid points, when I say Frank needs help, I do mean boots on the ground...Southern Louisiana has too much territory to cover for one person...What is known about Juluke is his credibility with former coaching peers...Most of us on this board knows, the gate-keepers of access to players are coaches, who else on the staff has Louisiana roots that can help Frank...So to your point G Funk, Frank woud have an opportunity to do more administrative work while having someone else he can trust with boots on the ground.
According to Dandy Don, names that are thrown around are Coach Porter and Juluke..between the two its not close..
For those questioning Juluke's Special Teams Coaching ability, need to take a look at old Karr game film and see who was in the huddles when those creative special teams plays were called...
Recruting is a relentless relationship building job, you have to be able to counter, the Bamas,Auburns, Aggies and west coast influence coming in your backyard with someone coaches, families and high school players connect with...

You keep saying words like failure and disaster like we DIDNT have an incredible recruiting class.

Still waiting to hear what makes Juluke so special...

lsu2006, I will ask you, what would you want in a strong recruiting and special teams coacha and I will respond from my perspective, if I believe Juluke meets your expectations...

Agreed. But I'd like to have recruiters that can also coach a bit and develop talent as well. Maybe Juluke is that guy, but do we really know?
They're hiring a ST Coordinator, which will also be overseen by Miles.
You're not hiring a talent developer.

I would want someone who can recruit and coach? I'm just confused as to how people have just decided he is a guy we have to have when he has coached exclusively in high school and 1 year at tech. How do we just assume he is some kind of wiz recruiter? Or even a major college caliber coach?

You're joking, right?
This guy has to be kidding.
90% of the criteria made during this hire will pertain to how well Miles thinks he will help on the recruiting trail.

He coaches running backs at tech.
Again, why do we need Juluke?

Juluke's attention to detail would be a necessity on the sidelines with CM since both of his cooardinators are in the press box...
Posted on 2/8/14 at 11:41 am to lsu2006
I didn't say LSU needs Juluke
