No they shouldn’t. They’d be just as quiet and half as full.

Whitey just air mailed a 3 and not a sound was made in the PMAC.

Fits the way the team is playing.
Goes both ways. Ever think maybe the crowd could help our team, specifically defense, just a little. We have no home court advantage. It's fricking pathetic

If we had floor seats I’d be there rn instead of at home watching in on the porch with my dog and plenty of alcohol....

Just took the lead. Crowd is great.

Yea, the crowd finally decided to get off their arse with 6 minutes left.

This team is falling apart. They give no resistance on the defensive end of the floor and can’t beat the bottom feeders anymore either.

I actually think this is the best the crowd has sounded all year. They willed the team back a few times when down.
Not the student section, though. They still sit on their hands and act like they are at the library.

The crowd sounded pretty good on the radio broadcast..

Crowd was into it tonight. I’m assuming all of you posting live at least 2 hours away from LSU since you were posting during the game?

Isn't this a student thing?

Even when it’s hyped it’s like an empty cavern. Save us Woody!

The team was getting beat in nearly every statistical category for most of the game (and probably finished that way) except free throws.
The early lights out shooting took the crowd ( the little amount that was enthusiastic ) out of the game.
LSU still finds ways to win, but it is very dirty.
Hard to get pumped about all the missed 3s. When the team made exciting plays when the game was close, the crowd was there.
Just a game of chicken and egg with this team.

Id say from about 5 mins into second half on, the crowd was into it. Best I've heard all season. This proves it is DOABLE! Can't wait for the atmosphere next week!

As a 20+ year season ticket holder, and a frequent attendee to the games even before SEC play starts, I take umbrage at your assinine opinion.
The PMAC can be loud when needed. If you want energy that looks good on the TV screen, then admonish the student body. It's too bad that the student attendance has consistently been extremely poor. When they do show up in some numbers, they lack energy for such a young crowd.
Rewarding the students with better seating sends the wrong message. Whine enough and get your way is no way to succeed in life.
I do miss a few games each season, but you know that's life.
Criticizing the fan participation atmosphere when the students seem to care less for their own team is pitiful. I am tired of the paying customers being blamed when the students should be shouldering the burden of energizing the crowd and the team.
UpToPar, CoolKat, landmanner, PscesTiger can all kma. Who are you to judge my participation at a game. Piss off.

Tldr:
Asinine, pitiful, umbrage taking, and azz kissing seem like a bit of an extreme reaction. But, as it appears you know, this has been a problem for years and it sounds like people just trying to discuss solutions.
Jeez.
As one poster specifically commented, he’d be more motivated to attend the game if the student seats were better, which, and I’m just spitballing here, could improve the opportunity for the student section to shoulder the burden of energizing the crowd; being closer to the action and in front of non-students, at the very least, would positionally allow the students to actually lead the energizing of the crowd. And, being closer to the team would make it easier to energize the team...maybe. So, if a couple thousand students feel the same way, there’s your attendance.
Neither the students nor the 20+ year season ticket holders seem to give much energy or get very loud too often. Although, when I watched on TV tonight, the students did finally get into when it mattered most.
And, if I’m being honest, I didn’t hear you yell at all the whole game, from where I was sitting.
But, I’m just having fun. It’s late and this seems likes a proper ending after watching us come back to win a good game (had it recorded, just finished up).

Students had the courtside seats. They quit going to games when the team sucked. So LSU sold those seats because you can make more money selling those courtside seats than you can make selling baseline seats. If you ran the athletic department as a business, which every athletic director in the country does, you’d make the same decision.
LSU hasn’t had a sustained winning program for men’s basketball in more than 25 years. People lost interest and it takes time to build legitimate interest back for more than one or two games a year. Wade is on the right track. It takes more than a year or two.
LSU really should look into reducing basketball arena capacity to create a more intimate atmosphere, whether that’s building a new arena or closing off/tarping off parts of the upper section in the PMAC. Yes, the Kentucky game will draw 13K. No other game this season probably comes close. But reducing capacity limits supply, which sometimes creates demand. Auburn closed off a good part of its upper section in the old arena before building the new one.
The basketball people will hate to hear this, but it’s a second- or third-fiddle sport here now and ultimately not much will change unless the program continues to win and go to the NCAA tournament just about every season. It’s not a problem unique to LSU because most of the SEC has the same problem.

Right. And even if Wade brings some kind of sustained success and the seats get switched around (unlikely), it’s low probability that it would last and then we’d be back in the same old situation. Winning Football and Baseball Championships is the priority. Still unfortunate that students can’t get into it more.
Being gone for so long now makes me nostalgic about going to the b-ball games and wish I’d have gone to more.
Of all the Tiger and Saints football games, and Hornican games, that I’ve been to, the most fun I’ve ever had was at a big time LSU basketball game. Energy in the PMAC was just crazy.
