The most impressive thing about 264 yards rushing

is that typically with a total like that there's a 60 or a 70 in there somewhere. The longest was 25, which means that the beat down was constant.
Now, I don't think it's fair to say that Ole Miss "wore down". Quite frankly, LSU's slow-paced offense hardly ever wears down upper tier SEC defenses. Fifty five snaps won't do that, and LSU rushed better in the first half than the second, anyway.
I think the 264 indicates two things in particular: the LSU offensive line manhandled the Ole Miss front four, and the Ole Miss DB's saved a lot of long runs with their very fine talent.

I agree with most of your premise, but I think you're confusing "worn down" with out of breath, as opposed to muscle fatigue by being pushed on for 50 times a game and fighting to push back. Offensive linemen who are much larger are in a more advantageous position to wear down the legs of the defensive players who are not only trying to push back, but push away, read keys, chase down running backs. That's what ground and pound does...not make them winded.

I've never seen a more frustrating 264 yard rushing performance. With the constant nice gains I kept expecting that Fournette or Magee would break off a long TD... and it never came. Credit to both the LSU offensive line and to Ole Miss's second line positioning and tackling.

Go watch the game again. On lsu's td drive, shackleford for ole miss comes off the field calling for water. He was obviosly exhausted. And he is one of their better defenders.

A big reason why I liked our chances in overtime if Ole Miss had made a FG at the end of regulation.

95 yard beat down. And Rex, the All American safety stoped a number of long runs. Most of our opponents don't have one of those.

Yes, it WAS a 95 yard beat down... but we also beat them down in the first half.

I stil think OM has the best defense in the SEC and one of the top 2 or 3 in the nation. The impressive thing is that by eliminating the turnovers, this LSU team is ready to dominate big-time teams at the line of scrimmage on a consistent basis, something they were not capable of a month ago. 'Bama will be a stern test but frankly LSU has a better Oline and the Defense is not far behind.

Ole Miss has good front line talent, but there is a significant drop off when you get to their second string. Bama' starters may not be as good as a whole, but I assume their second string is much better than Ole Miss' second string, if you base it solely on recruiting rankings.
