What is the rant's honest opinion on this matchup?

The Thing most Tiger fans will remember most is the lopsided victory of margin for UF since 1988. However, LSU bested them in head to head matchups over the past decade.

This permanent rivalry between two non-neighboring states exists because Tenn-Alabama game and will likely end with another addition to the SEC West like Texas A&M.

Consequently, UF as LSU's permanent opponent gives LSU a harder road each year to the SECCG than every other West School (Ole Miss gets Vandy, MSU gets UK, Ark gets South Carolina, etc given UF has traditionally had a higher ranking than most other east schools).

Had this game not been LSU's permanent East rivalry since the division split in 1992, LSU may very well have had 2 to 4 more appearances in Atlanta and perhaps a few more conference titles.

i've always seen florida as our biggest rival just because i cant stand them..i think the combination of spurrier and tebow has left a really sour taste in my mouth..also it seems that many people who live in baton rouge who aren't LSU fans are florida fans for whatever reason...AND i went to what is arguably one of the best games in lsu history, LSU/UF 07

We have UT and Bama to thank for this moronic decision by the SEC...

I like playing Florida every. It really helps push the image of LSU nationally to play this game. They are the Big Dog in the East, and it is a great challenge to play them.

Damn right. Anyone who doesn't is a count. That is not my opinion, that is a straight up fact, Jack.

I just remember one year in the early 90's when I was happy because they didn't drop the usual 50-burger on us.

Yep. You've gotta beat the best to be the best. I love playing one of the 10 best CFB programs in the nation every year.

Fact.

Best two football schools in the SEC over the past 15 years going head-to-head every season.

I like it as well. But i dont really see them as rivals, just a great team that we happen to play every year. These permanent rivals try to create rivalries that arent there...

When I started college, beating Florida seemed like something I'd never see. Being in TS, and beating them in '96 was one of the best moments in my life.

Don't misunderstand, playing them helps us tremendously but I never overlook that Fl game.

In the last 10 meetings the teams have each won 5, very even rivalry lately but LSU has not had a better record vs FLA during that time.

A permanent rivalry with Vandy would be sweet.

Wrong. It would be easier for LSU to win a nation championship if we had a easier schedule. Like was stated we have lost half of the last 10 games against Florida. That is 5 years with a loss that we might not have had, had we played a weaker opponent.

And Auburn-UGA

With that said, I like our matchup with Florida. Always a great game.

i think that the SEC should rotate the BOTH games vs. the East EVERY year! that being said, both games 97 and 07 were two best games i ever saw in Tiger Stadium!
