Outside of the SEC, we will never be USC, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma and Ohio State. I'm sure I'm missing one or two, but you get the point
I do not get the point , none of those teams are who you think they are in todays Football lanscape. all of those schools would murder a cheerleader and conseale the truth to be where LSU is and has been the last 15 years. We are in our place, the place everyone else wants to be.
Lots of stuff whizzing way over folks' heads today.

I too enjoy the media constantly asking the WRONG questions when it comes to LSU.
Always asking is LSU will be able to handle this, or that? Can LSU stop this or that?
Yep, keep asking the wrong questions, I love it.
BTW - The right question is how will the opposing team handle LSU?
I actually think the Media helps us out by always convincing the other team that it's LSU that has to prepare for you and not you having to prepare for LSU.
Whatever, as long as it keeps happening. I know what it would mean to our State if we were to hold up the crystal with a 14-0 record this year beating Bama twice. Something of historical record most likely NEVER to be matched or approached anytime in the near future if EVER!

I am not sure there is an "LSU bias" as much as there is a difficulty among the current "experts" as to how to perceive LSU, and especially Les.
These guys study football day in and day out. They learn in great deal the theory of football and the logic behind certain plays, actions, decisions, etc. When they apply this knowledge to games and predictions, the odds are high that they will get the result that they predicted. That, in turn, makes them look like "experts." Plus, as many of them are relatively young, they are fans more of the new footall strategies than the old-school "grind it out" football. The way that LSU plays is "old school" or "passe." They offer it up not as a description but as a condemnation of the game we play. Again, these guys are "experts" who treat this like science [think Brad Edwards]. Hell, they must be smart. They have their own network!
But, then comes in Les and his boys. They are unconventional, go against common football wisdom, entertaining as hell, loves his players as people (and not as tools) and generally, I believe, loves the game of football. For Les, and what he tries to instill in his players is, this is all just a game. Enjoy it and have fun. Be crazy when you need to be. Think outside the box and disregard common wisdom. Go with works. These are attitudes that are foreign to many of these talking heads. They cannot predict what Les is going to do, so they cannot pass themselves off as experts by having their predictions confirmed. When Les does something a little crazy - and it works - he is only being lucky. When he does it fifty times - and it works - he is being really lucky. The "experts" know how the game should be played. When Les does what they expect, he is smart. When he doesn't, he is just lucky.
There is old story about how the Germans in World War II hated Patton because he did not follow the normal rules of strategy and attack. That he was good at it was irrelevent. He was wrong because he didn't follow the rules they all lived by. It is the same situation with ESPN. Rather than admit that Les is a genius and they may not be as smart as they advertise themselves to be, they never give him, and the team, the credit they deserve. It is easier to laugh at or criticize LSU than admit they were wrong. If their prediction is wrong, they can always say "the Mad-Hater pulled out another one"
As an example, I would offer the following paraphrased preductions...
LSU is going to have its hands full with Oregon's speed. LSU will not be able to keep up with Oregon's speed...
LSU is going to have a tough time with Mississippi State's run attack...
LSU is going to have its hands full with West Virginia's spread offense and Dan Holgerson knows the spread...
LSU has had a tough stretch leading up to Florida. It may be a trap game...
LSU always has trouble with Auburn team that is surprising everyone...
LSU is good, but they will never be able to stand up to Alabama's solid defense...
Tyler Wilson may be too good and too solid for LSU's defense to cope...
...yep, these experts know their stuff.
Enjoy the lack of respect, because to be respected by ESPN means we stop playing LSU football...
And on another note, SUCK IT SABAN!! You had your shot and you lost. Take it like the man you claim to be.

Bingo. Another solid point, and I was actually going to add something similar to this in the OP, but since you did it, I won't:

By the way, I don't think people here can fully appreciate how much the media disrespect movitates the team. It really does.
Now that there is twitter, you see LSU players retweeting comments from other team's players and media pundits. That is their motivation....

not to mention the national perception of les miles, out side of erin andrews and svp, hasnt been good.
People are just now coming to accept him, cus he keeps proving them wrong.
even guys like gg and rr have shown dislike towards miles and the info or la k of info he gives them about the inner workings of the program
Guess what? i wouldnt have it any other way.
You think those schools want to be lsu? no. bama fans still dont think they lost. UGA fans think they will roll, OU fans still think miles is an idiot from his days at osu.

i think LSU has more support outside of the borders than you think
I've never lived anywhere near LA (my wife grew up there) and I currently live in RI. I went to the Boston LSU alumni bar for the Bama game and the place was mobbed with LSU fans, many of whom were from New England!

Agreed.
ESPN is just trying to stir up controversy and get ratings. Can't blame them for making all the money they can.
I've accepted our place and embrace it as well.
The Tigers are 12-0 and I couldn't be happier.

Great comparison.

Agree with OP except about about NEVER gaining the "respect" of ESPN. IF we continue to win national titles they will not have a choice. Looking at it objectively, which is admittedly difficult, we have a very good chance to repeat next year.

Exactly. Alabama is considered a "traditional power" not because Tuscaloosa is some cultured cosmopolis, or because Alabama is some deeply coveted TV market, but rather because the Tide have historically dominated on the field. If LSU continues to excel on the field over the coming decade and wins multiple championships, we would soon ascend into the ranks of the "traditional" powers. The OP's view is too fatalistic. It's not as if LSU is predestined to remain forever scorned and overlooked (to the extent that is even the case now).

Bingo, I really don't understand this lack of media love for LSU. Media show their love by covering a particular school. From mu perspective, living in California, LSU gets the most love from sports media; even more than local schools. LSU is in a position that is clear to everybody, they need to say something to keep the rest of country interested in their networks.

My Fellow LSU Fans, I'm Here To Make Your Life Better: KNOW YOUR PLACE
Wow...pretty powerful stuff. I tend to think LSU is a wee bit higher on the pecking order than you may give us credit for, but in terms of realizing that if you expect to get your fulfillment from waiting to have LSU stroked by national talking heads, you'll go to bed frustrated nightly. If you're an LSU fan and you can;t enjoy this type of season WITHOUT ESPN blowing LSU left and right, than you may want to find another thing to do with your Fall in 2012 and beyond...
Good read.
