What happened to Arkansas? They are 117.

I feel like almost every year Arkansas starts off slow going into SEC play, people begin talking about how they've fallen off, they find their groove mid-SEC play, and then make a deep run in the tourney.

The NEt isnt going to make much sense until teams get several games into conference play

Vandy is really really bad. Like 0-18 in the SEC level bad. Arguably their best player from last year now plays at LSU. Let that sink in

Wade was a master at decoding the NET rankings as he and his staff were big into analytics
LSU would drop at least 3 non conf games a year and would still be in a position to control their fate once conference play started

Unfortunately that won’t work at the mid major level. As I’m sure Wade already knows the deck is completely stacked against you. McNeese would basically need to win out to get an at large bid.

They’ll have to win the Southland Tournament

You couldn't include that in the OP?

Of course not. He is one of those guys who has some homo-erotic fixation with Will Wade.

sure would have helped if he wasn't bs suspended for the tourney not once but twice..if the general was coaching there would have been different outcomes

We almost lost to Southeastern. fricking Southeastern. I get not being a contender to win the SEC but struggling against Nichols and Southeastern will get you fired really fast. At least I hope so.

Interestingly enough, Kentucky lost to UNC Wilmington, Drexel beat Nova, SOUTHERN beat Miss St this past weekend. It’s basketball, get a damn grip. The next few weeks will tell us everything we need to know about this team. A loss to a team at the beginning of the year literally happens to almost everyone, every year. Several times it almost happened to Wade on several accounts with in state schools.

Just let it play out.

We win 1 of the next 2 games and the narrative changes.

While I do agree wtf losses happen all over it's been more wtf than most teams have.

Losing to Nichollas is of course stupid and not excused but I could chalk that up to a one off.

But adding in them scraping by Selu, getting curb stomped by a terrible Syracuse, and blowing a 16 point lead to Dayton starts to compound worry.

Of course this all comes after a season where we spent the majority of the season getting blown out of the gym, where in the ooc we looked better than we do this year at the moment.

It's just disheartening that after a decent showing in the ooc tournament we came back with two abysmal performances.

The problem with this is that Kentucky and State weren't really impacted by those upsets. The advanced stat sites are much more stable early in the season than RPI/NET. For most teams, their early season RPI/NET will eventually trend toward their advanced stat ratings. You can win some games early, but eventually, stuff like bad D & poor offense will catch up with you. UK and State are both still Top 30 after their upsets. LSU went 2-1 with wins over North Florida and SLU, but both wins were ugly. Their rating fell from 70 to 93. Despite the 2-1 stretch, the overall poor play was reflected in the advanced stats.

With that said, I would expect LSU's RPI/NET of 208/165 to improve over time, probably to the low 100s. Even as bad as they are, they aren't 150+ bad

I think a lot of us have talked about his before. There was the one dude that was trying to use Kenpom after 1 game to make his argument.

I tried to educate in my own way.

We're not going to be 150+ bad. Doesn't mean we're not bad though.

It looks like it will be a toss-up between LSU & Vandy for worst team. The disappointing thing, even as underwhelming as recruiting/transfer portal were for LSU, I thought they would be in the 10ish range in the SEC. Improved over last season, but not totally out of the bottom portion of the league.

I really don't intend to be negative for LSU Basketball, it really sucks to stare this down for the rest of the season. I would be surprised if we win 4 SEC games this season. It's directionless at this point. (Again, still December, so maybe).

McNeese gonna beat every SLC team like baby seals.

Chances are they will not lose another game until mid march.

Will win the SLC tournament and take a 32-2 record into the tournament.
