The backwards L with recruits hands

I've noticed in so many pictures of recruits that they are holding up a backwards L (to them it looks correct). It's almost like a hook em symbol but just the L. Who started this? I'm really for or against it but if we are going to take a picture doing it I would like to see it from the viewers stand point. Before I get bashed ... It's a slow morning on the board.

HS coaches should really focus more on getting the hand symbols down... forget fundamentals of the game.
